Even if they said she’s the only one that could handle and control that level of power, that just further proves my point that it was the best course of action, and pretending to know how one harnesses that level power is also moot, speculation at its purest.
But you’re right man, I could address every little thing you said here and we could go over every little intricacy of the episode but it would be kind of pointless, on top of that it’s something that has been done before (as you stated) with myself included, so we can agree to disagree on this one.
But that’s simply my two cents on the matter. I have NO intention of discussing this further with you cause I already can see how repetitive it would be. Not only has this conversation been done to death, but for other reasons as well. I mean no offense, but you used the argument…

I simply cannot comprehend how you could type that, so I won’t even bother. Seriously, how much time does it take to properly grasp power 100x more powerful then her own personal max when she has hardly mastered her own? Would it have mattered if she had a few more hours? A day more?
We are talking centuries here, decades to be generous. It is literally 10x(+) more power then any pony has ever wielded in canon MLP history, and you are pretending that a few additional hours for Twilight would of made any difference

As many have noted, if it wasn’t for the fact the very nature of the magic was enhancing her instincts and body in regards to all three tribes alicorns have attributes to, allowing her to physically fly at Rainbow Dash speeds briefly, she would of blown herself up in seconds. Beyond knowledge of her basic skills, Twilight’s personal abilities had very little to do with her ability in the fight, as long as her anger triggered enough flight-or-fight instincts to match the power that came with it, a stalemate was in the bag.
That’s all I have to say. If we did this dance again, we would just get repetition again. I am not saying I am right, but simply our perceptions on this aspect of the show are VAAAASTLY different. If you want to discuss a more interesting and less contraversial topic, I’m up for that.

That is incorrect. Watch it again, they explained such a transfer would only work AT ALL for her because she is the chosen Element of Magic, no different from when the Ocean Spirit added his power to the Avatar. Her will isn’t that much of a factor, and her magic skill isn’t even moderately close to Celestia level.
If magic transfers wasn’t based on what Celestia actually said, this conversation wouldn’t even be happening. They would of given all the magic to Celestia and she could of banished Discord and Tirek’s divided powers easily. That should of been obvious.

I never said it wasn’t appropriate to show emotion, I am just saying anger isn’t normally the easy route AND the safe route of grasping impossible power at the same time. And considering that this is Twilight were talking about, the girl who burns herself out or explodes something with her magic when she gets angry and relied on dark magic to open Sombra’s gates instead of using the instructed light magic to dispel them…
… I’d hesitate to separate Twilight path from any other (snicker) ‘Faustian tale’ in the long run. Craving of knowledge? Eagerness to help but low on empathy or will? Doesn’t think of the consequences? Twilight’s goose is cooked. But that’s hardly news. Unlike the other characters, Twilight’s life has been on Cloud 9 ever since episode 1.
Also, this isn’t Star Wars, moot comparison, there is no connection between the two at all in terms of lore or anything else, she was angry at an evil creature who had drained citizens and innocent creatures of their magic for his own gain, caused general chaos and destruction, and has no regard for others, I’d say her anger was justified.
It’s not the first time she’s displayed and acted in anger either, remember A Canterlot Wedding, in the underground scene, both justified considering what had happened.
There’s nothing wrong with the show displaying it when it’s appropriate to display it, rather than chopping out the emotion entirely.

Anger over having your home destroyed, all your possessions destroyed and one of your pets almost killed, and just letting go, no worries about holding back on him at all, and the reason she went back there was to scope out and find where exactly he was, it’s not like she knew he was aiming directly at her at the time, she teleported around rapidly as you just said, and probably didn’t know exactly what proximity he was in to Ponyville.
….which was moot since by the time Tirek appeared, she could only just barely do a single well controlled teleport before jumping all over the place. Which is perfectly reasonable since the amount of magic pumped into her, when she can barely control HER OWN on a slightly off day, was insane.
But, of course, all that alicorn magic of all three tribes pumped into her gave her skills and control she never had. And what triggered it? The power of
friendshipANGER! There was no friendship in THAT anger-enhanced magic, and it was over something petty and entirely her fault; she was putting everyone at risk by teleporting into ponyville when Tirek was trigger happy, and thankfully, her home payed the price instead of anyone’s life. Not that I liked it being destroyed, but I’m just saying.‘So remember kids, if your name is Twilight Sparkle, if you are angry and want to beat someone up with magic you can’t possibly control, the power of anger and hatred will allow you to do it.’ Isn’t this how the Sith used to recruit? Seriously, what the hell.
Also, I know what you’re likely going to say, and that’s that they didn’t necessarily know how much of a power difference there would be between them, and while that may be a valid point also, it still doesn’t change the fact that they needed to be stopped, but the best way to do that would be to go and practice those newly founded powers, gain better control, and then strike.
But I can see your own interpretation.
Also, her reason for not wanting Twilight to go fight him directly is because she needs time to learn to control those powers as best she can, a confrontation was inevitable, and with the level of power she had attained, she probably would have destroyed Discord without much problem, seeing as how Tirek having absorbed so many other beings plus Discord had put him just on par with Twi during the battle.
Her reason for not wanting Twilight to tell them about her powers is because they might have insisted on helping her out, which may have ended up with them getting destroyed by Tirek, pretty sure that was the concern and reasoning behind it.
Still, while I can understand why Celestia didn’t want Twilight to fight, her decision to keep Twilight’s friends in the dark was stupid and pointless.
But that also may have given Tirek the chance to absorb additional magic in their place until he catches up to them/finds them (possibly in different regions throughout Equestria), and in affect also throw off their on par strength in Tirek’s favour instead by the time the battle does come, Twi seemed to be exhibiting her maximum strength at the time of the battle in the actual episode, and she wasn’t going to gain any additional strength beyond what she’d already been given, whereas Tirek can continue to absorb from untouched creatures regardless.
I get your perspective, but this could have gone a number of different ways.
And, my point is that telling them at least carries the equal chance they will stay unabsorbed long enough to give Twi a chance to win, because Tirek took their magic and got stronger than when he absorbed Discord soon after.
And that was what brought them up to even. Taking just a bit of that away could tip the balance.
I tend to forget the majority of conversations/debates I have, but that one was probably the longest ongoing one I’ve ever had in general.
Oh lol we definitely did, IIRC the conversation went on for 2-3 days between you, me and another fellow, Millennial Dan I think it was.
Shame to hear that though anyway.
Can’t say that I did, now that I think about it. Really not anything in there for me, and commits the usual sins finales and premiers usually commit on this show.
If we did talk about this before, it didn’t have much impact because I don’t recall the conversation.
Also, one last simple question I neglected to ask last time amidst all the chaos, did you personally like the episode? was kinda difficult to tell one way or the other last time.
As I am well aware of yours also, so let’s agree to disagree before this just needlessly spirals, again.
Keep their distance, how exactly? by splitting up? capturing even ONE of them would have meant he’d have a negotiable hostage, and he would have found one of them eventually, even if he had to look around for some time and absorb more leftover magic on the way.
Telling them about it straight up may have prompted them to attack Discord on sight, which may have resulted in things worse than being locked up, to say the least, especially considering that Tirek was observing also, telling them to make sure that everyone is safe and inside because Tirek may still be a threat was the best thing to do.
Also, we already had this conversation a while ago, did we not? you’re already well aware of my stance on this episode.
