Well, your mileage may vary. I just never thought it was a good idea because it’s very frequently reported. Could just be user error, cheap AKs, or cheap ammo in those case-head separation reports, though. Hell, my Yugo M48 does weird shit, and it’s a Mauser-pattern bolt-action, one of the most robust actions on Earth.
While I don’t typically buy brass cased 7.62x39, I haven’t had a single malfunction with this or any of my other AK patterned rifles.
If your rifle is separating case heads with any degree of frequency you need to take a close look at your action, because something is not right with it. As long as your gas block and barrel are made right an AK can take brass cased ammo without any issue. Steel is just the standard because the Soviets were cheap and didn’t want to drop the cash for brass shells.
That has nothing to do with it. I’m talking about case-head separation. An AK’s ejection cycle is far too vicious and powerful for brass. You get a soft case the bolt will rip the bottom portion of the case off, leaving the neck of the case stuck in the chamber. If you don’t notice and fire the next round out-of-battery you are S.O.L.
Or just afford to get a half decent AK that can withstand being fired.
Then again, if you can afford to put money into something like this, you can probably afford to get your gun repaired/replaced if it blows up.
Technically these are NATO Aks… and they tried giving Ponies SCARs once and gave it to the wrong ponies https://derpibooru.org/147115?scope=scpee96c38fab3a1603b8a1307b06720b74a7fe215f1
Thanks for the feedback.
I’ve been getting quite a few comments on the furniture color being off, and you’re right. For some reason it came out far too dark during the dyeing process.
