I’m wondering how Tabitha feels about the redone voice, and its reception by the fandom…

its not really fair to call it a chan thing, it’s more a segment that is allowed to exist where other places would have stamped them out very early on.
 
you got the people who get generally pissed about this, and than you have the people who look at them and shake their heads…
 
look at it from an anime fan prospective. i like anime, but my god the conventions have some of the last people you would ever want to represent something you like attending. i think the same can be said about mlp right now… it takes a special kind of fan to go out of their way to go to one of these things, and they labeled themselves brony.

well im sure if her name was muffins, at least “copyright wise”, thats them just being sure enough of the fandom to do so.
 
MA Larson had one of his character, jasmine flower, changed to meadowbrook(sp?) later on after he wrote it because of copyright.
 
Muffins is fine, its MOST LIKELY a nickname and her “real” name is a mystery to the other ponies. I can see the ponies of ponyville calling her by what she supposedly likes to say a lot according to the fandom.
 
So ya, perfectly okay with. Remember Bulk Biceps? i still prefer snowflake. But again probably copyright. Remember they have to make cards, toys, and also show this in other countries without offending anyone or stamping over copyright. Muffins is a pretty safe and pretty open word so its the best solution right now.

You know, I never really got too upset over the change, especially since she came back derp and all in S4. But changing her name to “Muffins” is so stupid (not silly, stupid) I have to believe they were trolling with that facebook page. It’s not even an audacious pony name.

“Not good enough for the audience”?? On one hand, it was a very small group that complained about (the implications of) her depiction. On the other hand, she thought she was voicing a male character. Not her fault the studio failed to deliver the memo.
 
Derpygate is long past and the fandom scar is mostly healed, but it hasn’t completely gone away. As inane as it is to get grumpy about a background character’s name, officially (re)naming her “Muffins” feels equally inane. No good can come of this.
 
Even if /mlp/ doesn’t get up in arms about the issue itself they’ll be a raging mess of bitterness and trolling for weeks if this change comes to pass.

Don’t worry Tabitha, you’ll always be Derpy to us!
