Aww, this is just too precious! I imagine they have to pop their heads out once every so often to avoid running into something solid.
 
Well, unless they’re somehow hypersensitive to everything in the ground. Maybe they just do this to say hello to someone they recognize before quickly going back to burrowing along.~

Yep. Tatzlponies are a chaurus’ worst enemy. Able to burrow into a den and use their long tongues to snatch up eggs without detection.
 
There are Chaurus in Equestria but Tatzlpony predation keeps the populations too low fro them to become a threat, headcannon acquired.
