Seriously though, this is one of the most emotionally intense movies Ive watched in a while.
It helps that the movie keeps itself focused on whats important, which is the conflict/sisterhood between the two protagonists, and the challenges they have to get through to reach to their happy ending. But the way to that happy ending is so full of surprisingly dark and twisted blows. From the parents dying to Anna being the target of the meanest twist Ive seen in a Disney movie.
However, there is enough comedy, songs, and likeable characters that the ride doesnt feel too heavy handed. At no point it cheapens the drama or it overloads the pathos. Its one of those rare movies where everything seems surprisingly well balanced.
My only problem with the movie was the unbelievable amount of hype it created. I mean, wow, this is a huge movie inside and outside the screen. Granted, its quality justifies this appreciation, but Ive put it back for this long so I could see it without the hype affecting my reaction. So with that said, count me as one of its fans, this movie is really, really good.
And now, if you excuse me, I think Ive unintentionally traumatized the Royal Sisters. I think Im in trouble.
I try not to let either hype or excessive fandom screaming sour my experiences with any sort of entertainment.
I liked Frozen, I liked the songs, and I think it fits in really nicely with the rest of Disney’s catalog. Is seeing it getting spammed everywhere kind of annoying? Well, duh. Do I let that ruin the film for me? Haha, no, of course not.
It is interesting, however, seeing the net get over-saturated with content related to it; to the point that it’s come full circle and now it’s actually cool to hate it. We really are fickle creatures.
The only bad part of this movie was that damned tiny snowman. He’s literally just there for toddlers to enjoy. The reindeer is far better comedic relief, which to me says that they had to intentionally make the snowman’s scenes painfully unfunny.
I’d be glad to donate “Das Boot”, “Der Untergang”, both versions of “All Quiet on the Western Front”, and all three parts of “Unsere Mutter, Unsere Vater”.
Frozen was really good, but I don’t think it deserved all the hype it got.
But I will admit, that plot twist at the end…
The prophecy goes that “only true love will melt a frozen heart”. At that point, you might be thinking “Yeah, yeah, Kristoff and Anna are in love, he’ll kiss her, she’ll thaw out, end of story. We’ve seen this a hundred times already.” Well, Kristoff does reach her…but fails in thawing her out. Wait, so now what? Is Anna dead? Is she going to be an ice sculpture forever? No, actually, it’s Elsa’s sisterly love and familial bond that thaws Anna out!

I thought he was hilarious. And I’m 22 years old (and I’ll be 23 next week).
