Pony!Twilight: Girls! Girls! You can have both of me!
Human!Twilight: I did not agree to this.
It’s certainly not unreasonable to hope for more Trixie appearances to round everything out. That’s not what I was trying to get at.
But the reason I don’t expect her to have many more isn’t that she’s been replaced, as it were, but because the issues that surrounded her character were handily resolved. It would be nice to see more of her, I agree, if only to receive confirmation that the lessons she learned panned out. But even if we don’t, it’s still easy to imagine that she did indeed become a better person for it, if we’re looking to assume the best.
“Trixie is rather un-important. She may have been built up as this important figure in the fandom”
I never asked for much, I just want them to actually finish what they started with Trixie. I don’t think she should dominate the show, or become a main character, etc…
I do think she could have multiple appearances. Many characters have already done that more than twice, and they aren’t that “important” either, it’s the plot that determines the importance of each character.
We didn’t see her leave on good terms with everybody else, sure, but it’s hard for me to imagine that any of the main cast still actively despises her, especially considering that she was basically brainwashed while commiting her more heinous acts.
You say they’re close enough, but I don’t agree. They share a few similarities on the surface – they’re both unicorns who squared off against Twilight, did bad things and sought forgiveness after seeing the error of their ways – but their motivations, what’s important to them and where they were coming from at their cores were completely different.
We all have our favorites, but it’s important to step back remember that in the grand scheme of things, Trixie is rather un-important. She may have been built up as this important figure in the fandom, but in the show itself her appearances have been quite limited, only two episodes out of 99 and running. To me, it doesn’t come as any great disappointment when a minor character remains relatively, well, minor.
And again, it’s not as though Sunset having an important role in the movies, or heck, even an appearance in the show (which I doubt would happen anyway, barring some sort of cameo), does anything to prevent Trixie from having an expanded role, because while the two of them may share some similarities, they are not the same.
“I’d say that Trixie asking for forgiveness and Twilight giving it is a definite sign of friendship. When Trixie departed, she did so on good terms, so it’s not like there are any drastic steps left to take for her to redeem herself.”
Trixie wasn’t on good terms with anybody else, and she wasn’t redeemed. She was still basically the same character.
“the two of them are comparable on only a superficial level”
lol, no. I think the two are close enough, and it doesn’t seem like they have any plans for Trixie with how fast they got rid of her.
It’s just disappointing how the writers chose to do it this way instead of actually fleshing out her character. Trixie has potential on a show like this, and now it just seems like Sunset in the new Trixie. This is why I hoping she never appears on the show.
I’d say that Trixie asking for forgiveness and Twilight giving it is a definite sign of friendship. When Trixie departed, she did so on good terms, so it’s not like there are any drastic steps left to take for her to redeem herself.
Now, if your asking for Trixie and Twilight to be seen spending more time together and for their friendship to deepen, then that’s a different story, but it’s silly to think that Sunset is somehow getting in the way of that, or that she has somehow managed to take her place, since the two of them are comparable on only a superficial level. If the creators wanted to bring Trixie back for a third time, there’s nothing stopping them from doing so.
What basis? She was forgiven by Twilight and that’s it. They never became friends, or anything like that.
Trixie and Twilight had already formed the basis of a friendship. There was no “role” left for Sunset to steal. Stop blowing the situation out of proportion.
Suntwixie
Sunset started out nothing like Twilight, and obviously Trixie isn’t like her either. It’s just that I’ve been waiting for Trixie and the others to finally put the past behind them and become friends, because you know, that’s what the shows about. Then they created Sunset, who is basically an evil spoiled brat Trixie, and she stole that role.
Except Sunset has more in common with Twilight in terms of character traits and magic skills than she does with Trixie - apart from being a former bad guy. Trixie in turn has very little in common with Twilight.
“And the whole reason Trixie obsessed over revenge upon Twilight so much that she used an evil magical talisman and took over a town was because Twilight… saved her from an Ursa Minor.”
The idea of a revenge obsessed Trixie is stupid. The show even disproves that, the first thing she does after boast busters is try to start up her career again, we didn’t see her plotting elaborate schemes against Twilight. It took her life being ruined before she actually did something.
“Neither exactly had the best motivations for villainy”
Yea, Trixie had a legit reason to be pissed off, Sunset was evil because she wasn’t made into a princess.
“just because one character didn’t get the development you wanted is a stupid reason for hating on one who did get that development.”
Why? One is basically the crappy replacement for the other. Sunset is the arrogant “im better than you” type of character done worse.
And the whole reason Trixie obsessed over revenge upon Twilight so much that she used an evil magical talisman and took over a town was because Twilight… saved her from an Ursa Minor. Neither exactly had the best motivations for villainy, and just because one character didn’t get the development you wanted is a stupid reason for hating on one who did get that development.
Sunset is a self entitled bitch. The whole reason she was evil was because she wasn’t made into a princess. This crappy character gets a full on redemption instead of Trixie? I’ve been waiting for an episode where Trixie actually changes and makes friends, but that’s likely never to happen now.
being in Twilight’s thrallhaving done enough to actually earn some respect from Twilight.Though I wouldn’t exactly call that a loss.
Sunset is not evil anymore
Sees this.
Comes closer.
Grabs Trixies and Sunsets horns with her wings.
Slams their heads into each other.
Takes shocked Twi and throws her onto the shoulder.
Flies away leaving two unconscious unicorns behind.
The end.
PEGASUS POWER MOTHER||YAY!||KERS!
We could us more Suntrix.
Trixie & Sunset: No, she’s mine!
Trixie & Sunset: I said she’s mine! unhoof her!
Trixie & Sunset: (Gunting noised as they each pull Twilight in separate directions.)
Twilight: Girls… please… (Pop.)
Trixie & Sunset: EEP! Look what you did! (Both shoving Twilight’s body back and forth at each other.)
[Arguing noises continue.]
