That’s what they say in the comic, but my gut says that’s what McCarthy was always thinking. It was just never said out loud, so, now the origin story of the Sirens is perpetually on fire. >:3

I seem to recall hearing someone suggest some sort of weird time shit making the Sirens not show up until relatively recently, and that theory maybe having approval from someone offifial, but it’s a little fuzzy.
 
There’s possibilities for how the might get/make another necklace, but I think where it’s going would be the bigger issue.
