AJ being a bg pony was just a joke whereas Rarity has little to no influence in the show at all. Just think about many of the recent episodes. What has Rarity done? That’s right. She just follows the main cast around only to occasionally complain or maybe have that oh so funny drama queen moment again. No wonder she got removed from that Luna episode and left without her own ep in season 3. It’s just so easy and makes sense.
Applejack has gotten a lot of exposure lately.
And why is Applejack not on the background pony side?
I can only imagine there was some sort of bureaucratic screw up.
