Personally, MMC is my favorite episode.  
And I like the EqG films/shorts more than the show.

I just want to point out that the ponies that probably will have established voices are the background alternative six, (Derp, Lyra, Bon, Doc, Tavi) except Vinyl, probably due to the six definitely having more official characterization with the possibility of being integrated later in the season and next season. The “lesser” ponies may still get random voices.

Right, if nothing else, I imagine they’ll stop using those characters with random voices. If they talk, they’ll keep the voices this episode established.

Well, I consider MMC and all subsequent episodes to be just well-animated fanfics anyway, so…

I seriously love all the stuff they gave the fandom to play with. I’m really excited to see what people do with it.
 
Heck, it makes me want to practice my art more. I want to get good enough so that I feel comfortable sharing my own silly take on things! :)

wouldn’t expect them to do this ever again. but that does not mean they cannot use the stuff brought up in alter stories. perhaps never again will those of the background stand in the foreground alone, but they can sitll interact with the characters.

It’s most likely the producers will go back to normal, or they may reference parts of this episode in future episodes.  
I’m not expecting another episode dedicated to the background characters however.
 
Of course, given the fandom’s reaction to this episode (I’ve never seen derpibooru so active), we may see another episode with one of the background characters as the main focus next season perhaps.  
I’m not getting my hopes up though.

I don’t see that happening unless they hit 200 episodes. Though I COULD picture them using some of these characters in future stories. Not as a focus, but like, if they need a random mare to say something, they could use Lyra with this voice instead of random mare + random voice. I could see them using Derpy again sometime, though.  
Honestly, if nothing else, I hope this ends up giving these characters permanent voices. Just for some consistency from here on out.

that or they are saving things for potential stories in the future.
 
also i saw a clip of old bon bon placing a flower in lyra’s mane…….. maybe this will be used as an introduction to these characters, and they can play with them more later.

Isn’t that a good thing? I mean, we wouldn’t want the show to be completely changed for the rest of time. I’m sure we’ll see things like Lyra and Sweetie Drop in the background together, Octavia and Pon-3, etc. But I wouldn’t really want it to go beyond that.
 
Although I do kinda wanna know Hooves’ backstory. With my luck it’ll only be told in a terrible comic.
