However, it also wouldn’t be beyond the pale for their relationship to advance a few levels, and then she finds out why Spike started pursuing her in the first place, leading her to promptly kick him to the proverbial curb.

I’m a sucker for the ‘dating the one to get closer to the other’ angle. Comes to realize after a while of not taking their relationship seriously due to just being a way to stay close to Rarity that he actually likes her and goes on to develop a genuine relationship with her.
