Aww. Interesting way to meet yourself, too. One thing we need to see more of is Tatzljack using those tongue tentacles for mundane practical purposes, you know? Think of how handy they come in!

Well it’s actually two worlds. Equestria and Paraquestria. The latter just get into the former and wreak havoc (or sometimes do nice things, it depends on the individual) every not and again.
 
But yes, there’s a doppleganger equivalent to every character. Though it’s not to say they’re related; just because Apple Bloom is Applejack’s sister in Equestria doesn’t mean that they are related (or even the same species) in the other world. Tatzljack just helped Apple Bloom because she’s just nice; she’d have done the same thing for any injured filly.

Some people do give them cutie marks, some people don’t. Similarly, on the tails some people give them spikes, some people give them fluff. Its however you want it to be.

-Being surprised by her monstrous doppleganger comes later, and Tatzljack’s even more spooked by her “normal” doppleganger. Right now Apple Bloom needs help, which both Apple and Tatzl are both focused on.

Why tatzel is a thing I am not really sure as my text above may imply but at least one thing that might be a factor in Applejack is that she most certainly is an earth pony in many senses of the word.
 
Earth worms and thus by association tatzel worms are often associated with the fertility of the soil and thus with farming and I can personally attest some of why. Long story short I once made a worm bed and certain plant waste I put in as their food practically returned from the dead!

Would of thought Candence or Twilight would of been the obvious choice since they were there by the beast–and the turned one could eat the other or however that appeal works. Even as an Apple fan . . . Applejack is unexpected choice.
