I thought they were quite clear with her motivations during her breakdown at the party.
The feeling of seemingly being unwanted and unimportant to someone hurt her during a time where she was trying to be more sociable i.e. she’s at her most vulnerable. When she ended up feeling hurt she receded back in her shell and brushed off her friends because she didn’t want to feel that way ever again.
That’s the beauty of the character, she seems to be all over the place. Probably because she thinks about it a lot.
I really hope she won’t end up being one hundred percent “fork friendship” in the eyes of the fans. She isn’t simple like that.
Wouldn’t she be dancing on the proverbial line?
