This is honestly one of the dumbest ‘arguments’ I’ve ever been a part of. Let me make this clear. We aren’t disagreeing on the Spike thing. I don’t see Spike as a pet, he is as much of a character as any other. I was simply saying that it makes sense if a person is going to insult the Spike character, the most efficient and effective one would be the pet thing due to all the show has shown us. And I don’t appreciate people telling me what my opinions are, so please, find these comments of me making Spike less of a character and I will address it, perhaps even apologize. But if you can’t find any, or if you’re badmouthing me for no reason, you better apologize, I swear to God.

Yes, space restrictions. Oh, are you talking about the bed Twilight pulled out that one time for her guests during a sleepover? That’s a normal thing to do when you have sleepovers and not enough room. Moving stuff to the side (or to other rooms) to add extra places for people to sleep. Doesn’t mean that’s an arrangement you’ll want to keep forever though. Its the same. Twilight’s living accomodations in the library didn’t allow for 2 beds while keeping all the other stuff she needs for her studies, and since Spike is small he didn’t mind sleeping on a basket.
 
What exactly has changed from then to now though? Have Twilight’s feelings changed? Has their relationship changed? No. Everything is exactly the same, except they have more space now. So he gets his room. So yes, your argument is baseless because the explanation is that simple.
 
You know he’s not a pet, but her friend. The owl is the pet. The cat, the rabbit, the turtle, etc. Spike is a sapient being. Just because he’s not a pony it doesn’t mean he’s less than them. Saying Spike is a pet is like saying Gilda was RD’s pet during the flight academy. And no, I’m not making any baseless accusations. I’ve seen your posts in other pictures, so its not baseless at all. As an avid Rarijack supporter, its extremely common for you to downplay Spike (usually in very passive-agressive ways, buts its still noticeable) because it indirectly benefits your ship.

Eh? Rarity is clearly straight. And Spike has never really courted her. In fact, most of the sparity stuff we see on the show is Rarity taking advantage of poor Spike’s feelings for her. Not even talking about that ruby thing. Just making him carry shit. The only good sparity episode I’ve seen is that Infestation Manifestation episode where, for a change, they were really good friends.
 
I say good riddance to that fancy white pony. Spike deserves a better girl, pony or otherwise, to be shipped with.

Regardless of intent of the writers part, Spike is portrayed as a dog, reinforcing the pet thing.
 
I’m not sure what you’re accusing me of here, all I said was that the insults weren’t baseless. I didn’t say they were true or that I even agreed with them, just that it’s formed from something the show gave them. Calling Spike a pet because he slept in a doggy bed and became a literal dog, as an insult, makes sense.
 
And when did I attempt to undermine Spike’s character? THAT is a baseless accusation.

The mane six. The CMC. Even Celestia and Luna. These are the characters that actually have a decent amount of screen time and character development, or at least charisma.
 
Aside from Spike, who is awful, most male characters have maybe one or two lines of dialogue or appear for exactly an episode or two before never appearing again.
 
Look, like it or not the show focuses on the interactions of six female characters, and so most people will ship the characters that actually interact all the time instead of with random dude X, a child, their brother and so on.

I never understood why almost 90something percent of ships in this fandom are lesbian ships. Not that I’m against lesbians, but seriously, M/F is pretty outclassed and M/M gets almost no love in comparison.

I don’t really see many Rarijack shippers doing that (if they are, shame on them). In all honesty, most shippers are pretty tame and though each may have their own OTP, they can enjoy other ships without freaking out or at the very least say quiet over a ship they dislike. It’s only the crazy ones that lash out at anything/anyone who challenges their ships.

He used to sleep in a basket due to space restrictions, and now has his own bed and room. Not only is he a sapient being, but has shown on many ocasions to be smarter and more mature than many ponies. He turns into a dog in Equestria Girls because Megan thought it would be weird to have a little boy following Twilight everywhere (and wanted him to fit in her baggback), and also because they wanted to make a Wizard of Oz parallel.
 
So yeah, its pretty baseless.
 
The fact that as a Rarijack shipper you also take every opportunity to try and undermine Spike’s character, kinda also affects how much validity whatever opinion you could have towards the insult really or his character in general, has. He’s not a pet, you know he’s not and you know that argument has no real base. But assuming he is benefits your ship, so you do it anyway. You can like whatever you want, but don’t assume it has any basis.
