Thanks.
He does get a lot, but the anon made some good points.
Well, you have a point on some things, though in Spike’s eps while he does screw-up, usually he comes out on top at the end, and shows his “smarter/competent” side occasionally. Even in the “Spike at Your Service” ep’ (which many Spike-fans hated) he had a few moments of compatence in it, (and saved the end regardless of the trouble he caused) and in “Power Ponies,” and “Equestria Games” he went through some self-esteem issues, but proved there’s more to him, and that he’s just as valuable to the “Mane 6” team, as well as the Crystal Empire. So Spike gets some love despite being the “butt” of the humor in the show sometimes, and being a li’l immature. (Being a kid, and all.)
“some other” Bronies, in that first line. I can’t type this early in the morning.
Just so we’re clear, I meant to say “some other” Spike fans, and I didn’t mean to imply that all Bronies looked down on Spike’s fans, and I’m sorry if it sounded that way.
Being a fan of Spike is different from being a fan of any of the other major characters. While the rest of the lead cast are all strong, adult(ish) figures who all have the emotional physical toolkits to deal with their own issues, Spike remains a child. He can’t deal with the issues in the same way that are available to the Mane Six Ponies. This is why Spike’s episodes fail so hard; he keeps getting placed in adult situations and given adult responsibility and then everyone laughs at him when he fails.
In that light, I think it is understandable that people are protective of Spike. It’s the most natural thing in the world for an adult to worry about the well-being of a child. Most decent people, anyways. In that light I think it’s perfectly acceptable to ask “Why wasn’t he at Twilight’s Birthday?” or “Why wasn’t he introduced to Maud?” I admit, there are some Spike fans who go way too far with it, but then again there’s fans who go way too fan with their ships or their headcanon, too.
Well, that’s how I see it, I guess. Thanks for listening.
I’ve seen some hassle fanartists over that even if it’s just them by themselves.
I’ve also seen other “rabid Spike fans” (NOTE: not the nice ones) besides “that one annoying” one. I remember one saying he hated Andy Price, just ‘cause he drew one harmless pic poking fun at Spike. (While forgetting he drew pics poking fun at every character. I do that too with characters, so I know there’s no harm meant by Andy Price.)
So not all Spike fans are angels. (Nor fans of any other character really.) Just ‘cause you don’t personally see it, doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen.
I think it’s just one guy that does that. Also, reminder that it was Spike fans who actually had a reasonable discussions about their issues with characterization with staff and were courteous and thus got courteous replies.
I don’t see the “Mane Six” portrait complaints unless they leave him out and draw Derpy instead or something. You’ve got to admit that it’s weird.
I don’t think they have anything against them, just the “rabid” Spike Justice Warriors who constantly pester them, or draw fanart “killing/hurting” their OCs/ponysonas. Some are getting a li’l to overly-protective of the li’l guy. (Some fanartists even get crap for drawing a “Mane 6” group pic without Spike from them.)
All in all, it’s just harmless tongue-in-cheek humor, and I wasn’t implying they have anything against the sane Spike fans.
Other Bronies might bitch and complain bout Spike fans, but I doubt that the show staff would sink that low.
This is probably a joke on that, and on the fans who complain anytime Spike is left out of anything.
I’m guessing he just wants to be included. He does tend to get left out of things from time to time after all.
I get it!
Still, at least the writers made up for it with this :)
who doesn’t?
Bacause it’s cute.
There. Answered.
So that he wouldn’t be the only one in their friend clique who wasn’t in Luna’s dream. The feeling of being left out.
@Trahzo
Cartoon logic.
Maybe it has something to do with the Friends Forever comic book, but what do I know? It’s just a theory, A GAME THEO…Just kidding.
