If you hate this flag… You need a history lesson…. Also, if you hate it, why’d you even dislike it? You could just filter the “confederate flag” tag… SJW’s…
I love that movie, I promise I won’t knock you out and try to bury you in the front yard.
I do to.
I just love the people of this fandom sometimes.
Thank you. :D
No, thank you. I often get bashed, or called all sorts of things for stating either facts or my own opinion, so it was nice talking with someone who could understand and I could reason with.
Well other than this comment thread and maybe one other one this is the most I’ve talked about it I think I’ll just leave this topic be and let whatever happens happen.
Thank you for talking with me in a civil manner at least someone was able to.
Well, it is the Land of the Free as it says. While there are things the Confederacy did horribly wrong, it wasn’t evil. Nor is it right to take away a right to fly any flag. {Nazi’s don’t count, well, because Nazis.} So I don’t know why this all of a sudden became an issue after 150 years.
That makes sense okay so maybe the flag shouldn’t be completely discarded.
This subject is a little too complicated for there to be just one solution. I don’t like that this country has become so sensitive to things to the point that everything is offensive I found this issue to be rather straight forward but now I’m just confused about this.
I really REALLY hate the kkk. How it twisted the nation so much that Forrest, a staunch Confederate General and slavery man and the founder of it, grew disgusted and tried his best to stop it. It’s funny in that it was founded by the rich, lazy ***holes who didn’t fight the war and the soldiers who died get branded as they do today.
What I propose is getting rid of organizations like the kkk. Disband them. Pound some sense into them. Something to stop them dragging and propping a flag that was one of the last things thousands of good men saw and fought and died under. It just doesn’t sit right with me that the Confederate Flag is treated a lot like the Nazi flag in ways.
That’s all true I know that and if it was just a memorial flag it would be great but you do see groups like the kkk and other unsavory characters using it for the wrong purposes can you guys really say you can’t see my side of this at all in the past it was good but in the modern era it’s not used for the same reasons as it used to be.
Maybe getting rid of it isn’t the best answer but what would you propose instead?
Ah right, sorry about that. It’s a scene from Gettysburg with a captured Confederate soldier. {Love the movie} Basically, the soldier states he’s fighting for his rights and such.
The flag shouldn’t be taken away because it is not the Confederate National Flag. The Confederacy kept changing their national flag through the war. The flag that’s most associated with the Confederacy, the one here, is the Confederate Battle Flag. The one the armies used. Good people who fought and died to hold that flag, not the rich guys pushing the slaves around.
The Confederacy was wrong in the matters of slavery. So was the North and all of us after besting the British. As well as several other nations who once held slaves. The institution was morally bankrupt, but the Battle Flag was not about that. That was a flag of the soldiers.
My internet is to slow to watch videos right now.
“instead of people thinking that southerners are flying the general lee for fun, every idiot who buys into this bullshit is going to think “boy, i bet that fellow’s out for a good ol fashioned nigger lynching”
That’s… actually a good point, hmm that complicates things.
“also no, symbols aren’t important. symbols are for the braindead that cannot understand the objective of a cohesive group of people; a true coalesce doesn’t need a symbol in this day and age as everybody who knows what’s up knows what’s up. racism isn’t embodied by the south either, so i don’t know why you’d think that the rebel flag has anything to do with it”
That’s true but not everyone is smart enough to get that some people just look at the symbol someone waves instead looking at their actions just look at OC Arryanne.
“not that you’d understand, you’ve already proven that it’s impossible to talk reason into you, so enjoy being spoonfed lies and propaganda. it obviously makes you happy”
That’s uncalled for I can see other points to an argument I’m not a stone wall you have some points that are true but I think the pros outway the cons in this situation.
If you can talk to me in a civil manner I’m willing to listen to why you think it’s such a bad idea to remove the flag.

>their ties will be a little more obvious
Yeah
instead of people thinking that southerners are flying the general lee for fun, every idiot who buys into this bullshit is going to think “boy, i bet that fellow’s out for a good ol fashioned nigger lynching”
which is just as stupid as hating an entire race, mind you
also no, symbols aren’t important. symbols are for the braindead that cannot understand the objective of a cohesive group of people; a true coalesce doesn’t need a symbol in this day and age as everybody who knows what’s up knows what’s up. racism isn’t embodied by the south either, so i don’t know why you’d think that the rebel flag has anything to do with it

Here’s a quote I remember seeing.
“Symbols are important, and the flag is so strong a symbol that it constitutes an assault on its own, even if a murderer hadn’t decided to wave it. But the most insidious aspect of the Confederate battle flag is its prevalence. That Walmart, Amazon, and other big retailers moved so quickly to stop selling merchandise bearing its image is therefore significant. Seeing the flag everywhere, every day, helps in some ways to obscure its true meaning. People see it and understand it in a thoughtless way, as if it were just a graphic representing a certain kind of boot-wearing life. Now those who want to fly it will have to work a little harder, and their ties will be a little more obvious.”
@Pagan
why can’t i hold all this drivel
Oh, what a huge dent that will make.
True but at least they won’t have a fairly common symbol to fly when they do it.
How that is guy going to prevent Muslims from entering his store? Will he throw out every customer with a long beard? Body search everyone for hidden Qurans? Bible pop-quizzes? XD
Sadly removing a flag will not reduce the number of racist idiots like him.
Well every country would have to get rid of it’s national flag since every country has had some form of atrocity under it’s banner. The US flag has good qualities to it as well as bad the confederate flag not so much.
look what I just found.

Then you should have gotten off it a long time ago in that case. What’s the hold up?
