I’ve decided to go on a small sketching spree because nothing is really going on where I am right now.  
Yesterday, I was looking for a file on my computer, and I stumbled upon the first picture I drew back in 2014. (If anyone is interested, here is a link to the pic: http://woofyhound.tumblr.com/post/107641768958/i-may-just-look-like-a-jambalaya-of-random)  
All kinds of memories came flooding back about the time I made that pic, many of them about the original ideas and concepts I had for my OC, Red Velvet. I wondered what RV would have looked like if I continued with he original design and personality, so I found some of the old notes and sketches I made about her back then, and made this. To understand any of it, I need to explain her history and her old personality. This is going to be a long one.  
A lot of stressful things were happening to me and my family back in the summer of 2014. I’m not going to explain what they were though due to privacy reasons. All you need to know was that I was beyond stressed, so much so, that I would lock myself in my room and just stay in there trying to forget everything that was happening.  
Usually, I would browse Derpibooru on my Nook to calm myself down, even though I was skeptical with the fandom back then. Most of the time, I looked up pictures of S1 Luna or Octavia because they were me two favorite ponies, but it was different this time. I found an OC called, Lilith, and thought that she was absolutely adorable.  
Now, back then I had no idea that stealing someone else’s OC was bad. So after browsing her enough, I eventually got an idea. I thought about writing a really stupid, short story about her, you know, for teh lelz. This idea floated around in my head for a few days, as all kinds of crazy crap went on around me and my family.  
After a few days though, I decided that I could do better than that. Instead of writing a stupid, short story on someone else’s OC, I could make my own OC and write a serious, long story on it instead.  
The next day, while walking back home with some groceries, I started dreaming up how I wanted my character to act. I decided on a cringe worthy, edgy personality. Why I thought that was a good idea, I will never know. I also decided that I was going to give her an absolute OP power as well, but I didn’t know what it would be. Many thoughts ran through my head before I decided on giving her the ability to take full control of one’s heart and blood, biological magic. I thought that it was the best idea I ever came up with, even though in hindsight it was a awful idea.  
When I got home, however, I decided that I would make her completely obsessed with the heart and vessels to explain why she has that power.  
The day after that was somewhat calm. I managed to get my homework done without a problem, Mom was less stressed then usual, and it was surprisingly quite compared to the days prior to then. That night while Mom was working at the church, I was playing some Team Deathmatch on GMod with a bunch of random people I didn’t know, but I was still having fun none of the less. Sometime around 9:00pm or so, I had the sudden urge to take the idea of the OC I made, and sketch it out. Now, I hadn’t drawn anything in over a year and a half, so I was rather nervous about sketching her out. It took me sometime, but eventually, I decided I was going to try to do it. I didn’t draw her right away though, because I was still unsure about drawing a pony, so I ended up scribbling all kinds of other crap on the paper. Once I decided I was going to draw my OC however, I realized I hadn’t once thought about what she was going to look like, or what I was going to call her.  
I decided to design her appearance after Lilith, and used a ref sheet of her to help me draw my OC. Once I was done drawing her I decided to call her Red Velvet, because it was the only name I saw fit for her.  
Over the next two months, I did sketches of her sparsely, making occasional notes about her on the sketches, her personality and apperance constantly changing in the process.  
On November 24, 2014, I drew a pic of SDL’s OC because I felt like it, and he messaged me privately through Derpibooru. We messaged each other back and fourth for a little while, and he talked about his OC a bit, and I eventually mentioned Red Velvet to him, and he wanted to know about her. At that time, I hadn’t shared nor talked about Red Velvet to anyone on the internet, so I finally had to explain to someone about her. I thought over her personality a bit, and finally realized how crappy it was, so I ended up removing her OP power and making her just like any other pony, made her much younger, changed her goals, and her attitude entirely. Ultimately, I maked a completely different personality for RV right there and then, and told that one to him instead. I then realized how much I liked her new personality, and decided to work off of it instead of the old one, thus making her what she is now.  
But what if I never changed her personality? What if I decided the old one was better and continue to work off of it instead? Well, the sketch I made above is what I think she would have looked like if I continued the way I was going. For starters, she wouldn’t be an eight year old filly anymore, but a nineteen year old mare instead, this was because I wanted her to be old enough to have to suffer major consequences for her actions as oppose to getting away clean because she was a kid. She would have square eyes instead of normal eyes, because they were easier for me to draw back then. She would have a bent horn because I kept drawing her horn tilted off to one side, even if she was facing the viewer. Her second eye would be visible under her hair, because for her powers to work, she would had needed to concentrate on her victim with both of her eyes. She would have fangs and a giant tail to make her more edgy looking. Finally, she would have a huge chest tuft because it made her appear soft and fluffy.  
So yeah…lel.
