Description

“Tiny Shy, the mysterious miniature equine from my dreamfic, Within!
In case you were wondering exactly how she looked; I could have been more clear in the writing, but I couldn’t quite find the words to. So here she is, metal-studded back and all!

You know, until I had that dream, I never could draw Fluttershy quite right (her mane and eyes- arrgh!). Now, she’s easy! Also, before then, I never fully realized just how sweet and adorable she is. I mean, I could see why others thought so, but never fully grasped it myself. As bizarre the context she appeared in was, seeing her there and deciphering her symbolism… enlightened me to the gentle, caring, loving, kind essence that is Fluttershy. I adore her about as much as I do Pinkamena, now! Fluttershy forever!

Not sure whether to tag it “semi-grimdark” or “safe,” but I’ll tag it “semi-grimdark” just to be safe.

The place is a large, rather decrepit building, stuffed nigh to the edges with clutter. The insides are dark and dusty, yet there is somehow a familiar, organized atmosphere to the place. The inhabitants are the main cast of Dragon Ball Z, including Goku, Tien, Gohan, Goten, Piccolo, Yamcha and Chaozu, most noticeably; Freeza is hanging around, too. He isn’t really hurting anyone, it is stated that he is a “good guy”; his personality isn’t different, though. It’s not like he is friends with anybody, more that he is just living in the same house and tolerating everyone. Freeza is also a father, in this dream; the dream isn’t sure how many children he has or who the mother is, but Freeza keeps the smallest one, Kuriza (literally the smallest. The fellow’s only about the size of a juvenile iguana), in a terrarium atop the bedside desk. Kuriza is extremely unhappy with his situation, he bangs on the glass, claiming that he “wants to fight Super Saiyans”, but Freeza won’t have it. However, Kuriza is able to clamber out of the unlocked terrarium when everyone is facing the other direction.
Trouble. Almost immediately, Kuriza is confronted with Goten (there appears to be no size difference, now. It cannot be told by viewers how tiny Kuriza actually is), who appears normal, though his clothes are darker and he has small, mysterious metal disks lining the areas beneath his eyes. Goten giggles malevolently and powers up to Super Saiyan form; Kuriza, in turn, powers up as well (though no transformations are made). The two engage in a fierce battle. The clash carries the two many miles away from the house; it’s a pretty even fight, no one appears to be winning or losing. Suddenly, aura blazing furiously, Goten booms, “I am a Super Saiya-Pokémon master!!” He then throws himself at Kuriza, it would seem that the half-Saiyan had been holding back.

The place is Wal-Mart. It doesn’t seem entirely like the Wal-Mart I know, though; the colors are different, less technology is available for sale, it is less tall, but wider to compensate this, I am reminded more of Walgreen’s, but all say it’s Wal-Mart. The Z-fighters are there, too; probably shopping for things. On the other side of the store, there is me. I am bounding swiftly along the inside edges of the store in a haphazard, sideways gait (as I often do). Eventually, I stop this, for fear that, in my galavanting, I will crash into something painfully; which could happen easily, considering how I can’t see behind myself while moving this way.
Discord is about; he is flying through the store like a giant space noodle. Then, he loses control and begins to crash. There is a sort of Science Fair going on below (this is still in Wal-Mart, by the way), Discord lands, mouth open, on an open jar of frogs’ eggs. The eggs go up into Discord’s mouth and into his head. Discord shudders as all of the color bleaches from his body, his red eyes turn to pink, Discord is now albino. As he pries himself from the jar and staggers to regain his balance, an applause is rising from the Wal-Mart shoppers, applause for Discord. They are coming up to him, helping him to his feet, shaking his hands, patting him on the back and cheering, “congratulations!” “who’s the mother?” “nicely done!” “way to go here, cowboy!”, the sort of things you’d be cheered with upon having a baby.
Just then, the eggs in Discord’s head hatched. Not into frogs, like one would think, but into all sorts of things, a menagerie in miniature, contained within the body and mind of Discord. He can hear their thoughts, and they are hungry. Discord screams, clutching his head, “the bees! They demand me for honey! They, all of them, hunger! Make it stop!” Discord begins running around erratically, screaming and flailing all the while.

Freeza finally turns around and finds that the terrarium’s lid is misplaced, and its inhabitant is nowhere to be seen. He searches the room, the whole house, but Kuriza is completely missing. Freeza leaves the house and begins looking around, calling out, concerned for the whereabouts of his son.

And then Discord was Cell. Cell is not causing any real trouble; rather, he is milling about in a harmless, albeit strange and slightly unsettling manner. He says little and is still in the same basic situation he was in while he was Discord. The Z-fighters find him, and are not quite sure what to do about all of the little things trapped inside. “How do we get them out?” they wonder, “do we just wait until they get big enough to be removed?” Cell offers no opinion, he seems to be calm and content either way.
One of the many things inside is a tiny Fluttershy (about the size of a shoe); she has no wings, her back is lined with small, rectangular pieces of metal (these are for connecting with something). Sometimes, she gets hungry. When this occurs, Cell opens his mouth and allows Fluttershy to poke herself out; he lifts up a spoonful of apricot jelly for her to lap up. When finished, Fluttershy slinks back down his throat (she’s too weak to live on her own, for now). Everybody, except for Piccolo and Freeza, finds this rather disturbing. Time passes.
Cell walks up to the Z-fighters, he seems excited about something. He states that one of the beings inside of him has great and powerful potential for magic; should it grow up and leave him, it will have unbelievable, fantastic powers. The reaction is surprisingly negative. Everybody, especially Goku, is against this thing, “it’s too dangerous” he says, “drain it of its magical powers, Cell.” Cell frowns. He, hesitantly, walks off, arms folded across his abdomen.

Kuriza is losing the battle. Goten now floats in midair, head thrown back, roaring maniacally. A blood-red volcano of energy wreathes the half-Saiyan, whirling, crackling and howling with all the blind force of a hurricane. Goten’s primal shrieks blend into the cacophony of his insane power. Kuriza is paralyzed with fear and shivers as he comes to realize his fate.

They never left Wal-Mart. The Z-fighters now stand at what appears to be the counter for a check-out line. Goku turns and sees Cell, walking up slowly, face grim, something small and pale held in both hands. “I did what you said…” Cell says quietly. All of the Z-fighters turn, their attention is on Cell, who continues, “… and it died,” he says, voice rising. “You made me kill it!” Cell appears both angered and saddened by this, he is deeply upset by the occurrence. The Z-fighters are not sure what to do, either; they hadn’t meant for it to die, they had no idea that this would happen. All stand silently, solemnly, staring at the small, white, dead thing held in Cell’s hands.

The Z-fighters are unhappy.

Cell is unhappy.

Freeza never found his son.

The End.

… oh, were you expecting a happy ending to this dream? Sorry to disappoint, but I have no control over these things. I had this dream just last night, and thought I’d add it before its details faded from my memory.

My apologies if you were perturbed by the events, goings-on and mental images included within this story, but, once again, my unconscious mind is to blame for these.
If this seems untrue, know that my dreams are almost always this vivid (though not always this bizarre or long), and I tend to remember them quite well (if they interest or fascinate me, of course).

I have also come up with a word for this sort of writing: dreamfiction.
Fictional writings based upon the events in one’s dreams! Interesting idea, yes? I hope it gets passed around, because it’s something I’d be interested in seeing from others.

Critique, reactions and guessed interpretations are welcomed and encouraged in the comments!

I pretty much say that it’s semi-grimdark, at least, because a wingless Fluttershy with metal things on her back looks too disturbing to be safe.
