Eh, still a stupid ideal because it just works off of the assumption that she will only get with royalty. Simple fandom is simple, though, and the brony fandom is Chris Chan tier when it comes to being simple.

Some might talk about Rarity inner desire to be royalty, or the “crystal” preferences she made manifest a few times in the past, and other things like that.  
But fandoms are more simple than that. Black girl gets shipped with the black dude. Tall girl gets shipper with the slightly taller boy. Ghost girl gets shipped with the zombie guy.  
And White Unicorn gets shipped with the Black Unicorn…at least more commonly than White Unicorn with Centaur, or White Unicorn with Draconequus.
 
Ironically and/or fittingly for a character like Rarity, it is all about aesthetics. Mares like her just seem to mesh more easily with Sombra than the other two villains.

Well, it makes the most sense.

The fandom is far too simple for its own sake sometimes. When it comes to ship her with one of the big three male villains, Sombra seems to be a more popular choice in art and fan fiction.

Come on, how is this worse than him with Celestia? At least they interact in some episodes.
