That’s a pretty good defense. I guess I just can’t get into the couple that much. Perhaps one day we will learn to appreciate all shippings.
I ship Rarijack because not only do I find it a very cute ship of, ‘country and city girl’, but also because they are surprisingly similar. While AJ and Rarity both are opposite ends of the spectrum in many ways, it’s the way they are similar that makes them stick. They are both hard working ponies who manage their own business and carry the weight of that responsibility. Yet despite the stress that comes from it, neither will ever turn a pony away who needs help. Another way is their relationship with their sisters. Both have trouble with them, but in a different way. Rarity has trouble connecting with Sweetie Belle, and Applejack has trouble letting her go out on her own.
I foresee that relationship resulting in many fights, but like many of their fights, it’s surface level and they would always make up because past the fashion and the apples, they know what it’s like in the others shoes.
If you are looking for a good Rarijack fic, look no further than, ‘The Fires of Friendship’, a friendshipping fic that is VERY in character and leads to a second fic that gets to the good stuff ;)
I don’t understand the phrase, but that’s my, ‘two cents’ :)
It was my pleasure to write that comment. Happy you liked it.
I like shipping characters that have certain things in common, probably why I’m a sucker for Fluttermac, but I feel their similarities have to compliment each other. Like I always imagine my one true love being as nerdy as me but I had girlfriends who weren’t and we worked out fine in the end. I do think your look on Appledash is pretty on point though.
The whole opposites attract angle is why I never ship Applejack and Rarity. I think it’s both falling into that dated cliche and repeating the sleepover episode is where I always see it leading. I know they’ve gotten better with each other as the show went on but we tend to make shippings based on attributes. I think Rarity and Applejack are too different to stick and I don’t think I’ve found a fic to convince me otherwise.
Twijack works for me because I feel there is another different about the two but still have complimentary similarities, like what you said. It also helps that we’ve got jowybean’s twijack weekly and A Delicate Balance. Can’t help but love those two.
That’s my two bits.
P.S. I loved your first comment about AJ thinking about how cute drunk Twilight is.

Some people ship characters because they have things in common and that is kind of right, but with most people, they often take character who are too simmilar. Like Applejack and Rainbow Dash. The problem with that is, having too many things in common, that they would get bored with each other quickly and then they would only have competing with each other left. That is not healthy and would lead too fighting, it would ruin their relationship and their friendship.
Some take characters who are polar opposides. It could be a relationship, with both partners, reacting to each other for all eternity. They would not get bored. So it can work, as long as they don’t have things that are too polarising. That happens with personalities that rub too much against each other, like Applejack and Rarity. They would end up fighting for all eternity.
Polarisation and similarities can be used to make people interested in each other, they are required to make a relationship work, and they can also ruin everything.
Applejack and Twilight are both practical and calm, so they won’t fight. They also are an adorkable bookworm mage and physical industrious athlete farmer. Twilight is a experienced leader and while Applejack can also lead, she also follows well. Because she is part of a big family, she learned to work with others and incorporate herself into a group.
That are my two cents.
I’ll be honest, I’m not too sure why I ship them though. It just kind of works for me.

Yes! A fellow TwiJack shipper appears.
Yeah, they would
