If I had to guess, the foal would look like a Hayscartes’ Method drawing even when outside of a book. IOW, like an ink-and-paper Toon.
This is what I was just thinking, you convert yourself into a drawing and you leave yourself open for all sorts of mischief.
There! Now let’s see what happens when you come out of that book.
I kinda pictured it as somepony randomly opening a maternity book and coming across a page.
