Also, I’d technically call the tape ‘recorder’ a datacassette reader, unless there is a specified modem duplex loop (modem hooked to mic plug on cassette recorder as well as having input from headset jack), which in the 80s would be virtually impossible to find as an internal component because the concept of the softmodem (which would aid in miniaturization the circuit board to fit the dimensions of a keyboard computer) wouldn’t be invented until 1994 by US Robotics and Bell Laboratories.
Generally speaking one should assure all high tension electrical circuits are OPEN before conducting surgical modifications on any integrated circuits, lest they wish to put unnecessary risks of integrity loss (be it reputation, health of being, health the hardware) and waste a 2500USD investment…
@Exedrus
Right?! He’s lucky that they’re through-hole and socketed components. I’m just trying to imagine soldering SMDs with hooves. Come to think of it, how’s he holding that iron…?
It’s his all-Rush mix tape. Only missing a bottle of Shasta.
8051 all the way.
Just ground yourself and you’re probably good.
I’m not sure that’s a good idea either. Is unicorn magic safe for delicate electronics?

Yeah, better fire up the horn, Shiny. ;3
Fuck your 386, I’ll take my 6510.
But this is the 80’s so it’s not about the Pentiums, it’s about the 386!
You’re welcome.
