Nah, this is just trying to put a spin on the ending, where the changeling has convinced the human husband that she is not a changeling, but that Brownie Bun is the changeling.
And I think the change makes it seem like Richard is agreeing with Pistachio, that he feels sorry for Brownie, rather than the original where he feels sorry for Pistachio. Or more specifically, Richard has been completely fooled by the changeling.
Am I missing something? The only dialogue change appears to be taking out Brownie’s line in the final panel, and I don’t see how that changes the comic in any important way.
Well, in the last panel of the original, it’s Brownie’s line, Richard’s line, Pistachio’s line.
In this one, you’re supposed to read Pistachio’s line first, then Richard’s, making it seem like Pistachio easily fooled Richard.
