Dunno if it’s possible to find the full movie, but most of it is in pieces on YouTube.
Yeah, I recognize the name, I just haven’t seen that one yet.
Batman: The Dark Knight Returns
2012/2013 adaptation of the comic with Michael Emerson as the Joker, and playing it rather well, IMO.
Haven’t seen it.
More importantly, what about Michael Emerson’s Joker?
I really don’t; maybe it’ll come across differently in theaters or something, but in the trailers I’ve seen, Leto’s delivery is completely different.
You mean to tell me you don’t hear Ledger at all in Jared Joker?
Uh… the Ledger and Leto Jokers have, like, no mannerisms in common whatsoever.
Pffft! He is obviously emulating Ledger in his behavior.
Although I’ve noticed that if you take out the tattoos, he kinda looks like the Joker from Batman:Endgame.
I think Leto’s Joker has been inspired by the Animated Series as far as behavior is concerned.
First impressions are important and there’s nothing wrong with having low expectations because of a bad first impression. What is wrong is holding that in spite of further evidence because of that first impression.
Let’s use Ghostbusters. You see the new trailer for Ghostbusters and think “That doesn’t look very good I think I’m gonna pass.” Which is perfectly fine. Then word gets out that it’s great with critics and audiences and you’re still like “Nah fuck that.”
Jared Joker was a bad first impression, and that’s me taking my animosity to Jared Leto out of the equation. I can ignore the fact it’s Jared Leto I can still say “No I’m not feeling it.”
Now, there is plenty of reason to think he would be a good Joker, we have been surprised before. Hey, Luke Skywalker is best Joker. Who knew right? I will reserve final judgement until I walk out of the movie.
But as it stands, I am not impressed. I don’t like the actor, the makeup isn’t really winning me, I hate the tattoos and I am nonplussed to the stories of how creepy and “intensely method” he was on set.
But again, I will wait.
While at the same time trying to being fair to the image that Texas provided, which I also pretty much agree with, we can’t very well say that any form of the Joker is more intimidating than Jared Leto’s version… at least not yet. The movie’s release is set in August, so we don’t know what Jared Leto’s entire performance is going to be like.
Judge after the fact, not before. Sometimes, we can be impressed. Keep in mind, I’m not holding my breath here, but still, I’d like to give everything a chance and I have been surprised before. After all, most of us never expected everybody’s favorite gay cowboy to put on that great of a performance, did we?
Additionally, actually giving something a chance is, after all, how ponies managed to worm their way into my life. That alone pretty much made me less of a cynic when it comes to expectations.
@TexasUberAlles
Yes. Absolute yes!
What about the one from The Batman?
Yeah, Mark Hamill is pretty much best Joker. He played it truest to the comics. Heath Ledger was pretty great but this image comparison is pretty spot-on.
@lunafan22
I hope that movie gets destroyed like the remake of fantastic 4.
well not only with ledger, Im comparing with all jokers (nicholson, hamill etc)
my problem is the design, he looks like a mara salvatrucha fusioned with marilyn manson… a little flanderized… even if he is not the same character, still look stupid to me
engrish out
That’s because you’re comparing him to Heath Ledger’s Joker. It’s not a proper comparison because Jared Leto isn’t playing the same character, he’s playing Jason Todd as the Joker.
