I kinda find it hard to believe Tails didn’t at least break even with Eggman

I know next to nothing about this franchise (played the game on the sega genesis, watched the anime movie where sonic randomly has a human girlfriend… wut), but how is Robotnik more datable than Tails? Is there some serious human chauvinism going on? Or IIRC Tails is a kid, maybe? But if that’s it why would he be in the competition in the first place? Blaaahhh…

I definitely see your point. The comic series had a few story arcs, with story-lines that took several issues to complete. However, only the example I mentioned (which actually spanned comic 1 and 2) demonstrated meaningful character development. This is especially sad because the continuity shows in future strips. The rest of the team is a lot nicer to Knuckles, especially Amy, and Knuckles demonstrates a noticeable increase in intelligence and badassry, while still being a goofball in general. I can’t really blame the series for this, however, because it was cancelled after just 11 issues!

A story arc in the TV series would definitely be nice. Or an origins episode that shows how the team got together. We don’t know where everyone comes from or what inspired to band together and fight evil. All of continuity factors are merely Easter Eggs in the show, such as the cannon from “Circus of Plunders”, which reappeared in Unlucky Knuckles (an episode that also missed an opportunity for character development). Unfortunately, the season/series finale is just several episodes away, and I’m still left wanting more.

Sonic Boom already has lovable, quirky characters, stellar voice acting, beautiful animation, and clever, witty writing. Surely this could be used for something in the show other than the action and comedy.

I think what he means is that the show doesn’t nearly have enough touching moments and continuity factors as their competition: shows like Gravity Falls, Steven Universe and of course, MLP.

When something major (heck, even minor) happens in those shows, the effects tend to stay around for a few episodes. I mean sure, there are “filler” episodes, every show has those, but even then someone walks away with an important lesson, or something is learned about one character or another, be it personality, history, lore etc.

Meanwhile, Sonic Boom makes the mistake no modern-age cartoon should: they play it safe n’ simple. No continuity. Everything’s just there. Sonic Boom’s like playing a brand new game that already has 100% completion on it, there’s just no reward in watching it. Sonic will be fast. Tails will be smart. Knuckles will be stupid. Sticks will be paranoid and Amy will be… well, Amy. Anything that happens in an episode to change that will be status quo’d.

Imagine if MLP had never any continuity beyond their episodes. A Canterlot Wedding? Yeah, Twilight has a brother and a babysitter getting married, but no one ever mentions or pays heed to it ever again. Same with the Crystal Empire biz. Also, Twilight gained wings that one episode only. And they rebuilt the library after Tirek wrecked it. Imagine how little difference the series would’ve gone through…

Try again with, say, Steven Universe forgetting ever new gem-power he learns, or the character advancement of the other gems. Heck, did you SEE the last episode!? That’s kicks the Status Quo right in the gonads. And imagine no character advancement for the Gravity Falls series either, how would that even work!?

Ugh, rant over, it’s all just food for thought. If Sonic Boom has something more substantial, I’d enjoy it a heck of a lot more.

Tails nearly died in “The Sidekick”. Sonic’s reaction makes it all the more touching.
In “Circus of Plunders”, Tail’s latest invention fails and endangers the entire team. He takes it badly and vows never to leave his workshop until it is fixed, greatly concerning Sonic.
In Comic #1, Knuckles grows tired of all the “Knuckles, why are you such an idiot?” comments directed at him, mainly from Amy, and always from his own teammates. When the growing friction escalates into Amy blatantly insulting him to his face, Knuckles defects to Dr. Eggman’s side and the two capture the entire team. However, the face-heel turn was merely an act to get back at Amy. By fooling Eggman, he believed, he could prove that he does have intelligence. After explaining this to his friends, Knuckles realizes this “smart” idea helped Eggman a lot more than it hurt him. His self-esteem then suffers a severe blow and he tearfully believes that he is too stupid to do anything right. After some encouragement from his friends, Knuckles realizes that he can still make it up to them by destroying the robot they were imprisoned in. Which he does, single-handedly, in a spectacular fashion.
There are many more but these are some of my favorites.

I mean if u like it that’s fine but for me it’s just the worst thing to happen to the sonic franchise. I mean people can harp on AOSTHH but even then it had it’s serious moments. for all the silly it took some time to be serious. however this show has no serious moments what so ever.

“And Sonic, on a scale from 0 to 5, you scored… a score of “fast”?”

“Pretty much, yeah.”
