I haven’t seen this week’s episode, but Discord has been shown repeatedly to be pretty damn sadistic. If [insert random act of dickishness here] doesn’t have negative consequences for him (at least none that he can think of at the time), it’s a safe bet he does it intentionally, for the yuks.

Friends don’t throw friends’ friends into portals. Though I’d hate for him to become squeaky clean. That he’s still ridiculously powerful and you dare not turn your back on him even when he’s playing nice (by his standards) is what I love about him. And you hold your breath a little when he says “And we are friends, aren’t we?” because you know what will happen if he decides they aren’t, and maybe he’s kidding or maybe we’re looking at Armageddon… no, Discord is not a “good guy” and should never be. And yet, he does care about them to some degree, in his crazy way.
 
(If you’re gonna ask why I like Discord a lot more than Teddy, it’s not ‘cause I think Discord is much better. He’s just a lot of fun to watch! The problem with Teddy as far as the writing is concerned is that the script is written like we’re supposed to agree with Sweetheart even though Teddy is never voluntarily non-malicous and Sweetheart sounds more like a wife who “falls down the stairs” a lot every time she defends him. Imagine if the lesson had been the need to make Discord feel included and nobody ever talked about nearly throwing Treehugger into the universe next door as if it was bad, and it was like that every. Single. Time.)

No, he really hasn’t gotten better at all. Pretty much every script with Discord in it can be summed up as “Discord spends the entire episode being a complete asshole only to have it blow up in his face in the final reel.”
