I concur. Some people just don’t have a life and instead they resort to wasting their time criticing other people’s work or hobbies.
“sigh” How the hell is this a self insert? I don’t think you ever read the comics. Peter Parker actually acts like that. Plus you don’t know the author so I have no idea how you came to that conclusion. You can say you don’t like the art or the fic but calling it a “self insert”? Now your just grasping at straws.
Amen to that brother. I completely agree with you. People are taking this crap WAY to seriously.
You have got to be kidding me. People are actually complaining about this? Who gives a crap about what he does with his money? Lets just leave him alone.
Of course you are weird, you are paying actual money to live a romance through fictional characters! How weird is that?
Jokes aside, you have to understand that the “problem” is that you are making your hobby public. And with making your hobby public, I mean posting hundreds, hundreds and again hundreds of pictures of your wish fulfillment in the core of the brony art (and other) community. And while this fact alone could be considered annoying by some, you are also indirectly showing off that you can throw away what for some is a real fortune for those pictures. And that’s most certainly considered annoying by many.
Y’know, I don’t care for crossover shipping or humanizations, but it’s your money to do with as you please, and at least you’re getting some good, positive art into circulation as a result. Plus, I appreciate that you paired Twilight with another strong, intelligent character, as opposed to some other crossover ships I’ve seen.
And for the record, there are other people who are helping with these kinds of commissions, it’s not just the author doing it alone.
You know you’re wasting your time insulting someone else’s work of literature when you don’t even bother to give it a chance.
You’re pathetic.
Eh, well. I apologize if I came off rough. You hear the insults enough, you assume the worst-case scenario.
A reckless man and his money, huh? Well, I’m quite content living on my own, making a great living, and having fun while doing so. People spend money on material things, whether it’s clothes, electronics, cars, or whatever. Heck, I COULD be one of those guys that does some seriously illegal crap, but I don’t. However, I have a feeling if I spent money on crack and became a druggie, people around here wouldn’t have nearly as big of a problem with me. You KNOW it’s silly when said people are willing to hate a great piece of work by an artist if it’s merely associated with me (or these characters). Death by association, I guess. Yet, I find a hobby in commissioning art for something I like, and people consider it either weird or reckless (as you say).
You don’t know what my job is. You don’t know how I make in a week, month, or year. Like I said, MAYBE $8000 isn’t that much to me while it’s considered a fortune for you. Do what I do. Please respect what a person likes and leave them to it without tying to come off as condescending. Everyone’s different. That’s all I want people to get. I apologize again if I came off as crabby. I worked a long shift, and I saw the hatred was strong within this art piece.
…blah. I need a cookie.
Hahah, oh my no, no need to get your jammies ruffled. I was merely using Gacey as the scale of comparison for crazy spending money. I don’t think you’re a bad guy. :)
Let me guess, you’re also trained in gorilla warfare? Regardless, I rather doubt a “decent job” will let you throw away $8000 minimum on fanfic art, considering the modern salaries of the day. But fret not, my friend, you are free to whittle away your money as you please.
Just remember the story of the reckless man and his money. :)
No. I don’t know who Gacey is. I’d be lying if I said I did.
looks up Wayne Gacy - the Killer Clown, was an American serial killer and rapist who sexually assaulted and murdered at least 33 teenage boys and young men between 1972 and 1978 in Chicago, Illinois.
…huh. So is that it?
Why should I tell everyone how much I’ve spent? Regardless of my answer, you’ll only continue to hate my little side hobby and label me as crazy as some serial killer and rapist.
Eh, I’ll humor everybody. Just know that I have spent hundreds, if not thousands. It’s a flash in the pan for me at this point. Get a decent job and you can do whatever you want while having fun. Try not to care what a bunch of people on the internet think about you. They’re never satisfied, even if the cure for AIDS and world peace fell in their laps.
I do this for those that DO like it as well as for myself. Good day, my friend.
…do you even know who Gacey IS? XD
Also, if you are the dude in question, you can tell us directly how much cash you laid down for all these. I’m curious. We’re all curious. Show us the mad duckets, yo.
Eh, I’ll take it as a compliment at this point.
It still is, but that’s more like I Am Sam crazy as opposed to the Wayne Gacey crazy this dude exhibits.
Damn, and I thought that my estimate of Harmony Star spending approximately $1900 on commissions of his OC was crazy…
Just remember boys, greed is good, and now, it’s legal.
@TheAbridgenator
Money, money, money, moneeey….MONEY!
Considering about half of them are fully inked and colored, and assuming an average rate of 70% being his commishes and not fan work inspired by it, given my own experience with commissions we’re looking at a minimum of $8000. And that is being VERY generous.
The argument in the comments below, or the ship itself?
