I would also consider it is 15-20% responsible for why I love the show due to how many throat shots there are.

Yeah. I love everything that has to do with the mouth, but the uvula has to be my favorite feature. :P

Its actual purpose is kinda unknown but a more important reason is that it blocks off your nasal cavity when swallowing so food doesn’t get up there. The fact that it is sensitive isn’t unique to it, like the back of the tongue triggers gag reflex in most people too and both are subject to not having any sort of response if you poke them depending on genetics I guess (or a lot of training).
 
Oh it also plays an important part in human speech, but that’s more how our language works because of biology (search uvular consonants).

Hehe I’m the opposite I like seeing the prey hang from it or just slide against as they go down.

Not really, IMO. Yeah it looks kinda phallic, but its only real purpose is to make you vomit. I don’t like giving the prey anything to grab onto.

That’s not uncommon for most cartoons.

Horses don’t have a uvula (the dangly thing at the back of the throat). But they do in the show for some odd reason. Guess I’ll blame DHX.
