As you ignore the points I raised, then tried to use Lauren Faust to snatch moral high ground.
Even if others hadn’t replied I was going to end this with one last statement:
We can argue back and fourth and neither of us will change our views. If you want to prove me and others like me wrong the best way to do that isn’t to try and win an internet argument via endurance, it’s to go out , do something good then show the rest of us the value of your activism. If you can do that, you win, if you can’t, keep wasting oxygen, I’m done with you. Though ponder whether activism no one but other “activists” notice is really a good thing.
@Background Pony #BDAE
I agree completely with @Black Eyes Blue
…and that’s why I’m now unsubscribing, to avoid your inevitable back and forth.
@Tumblr Feminism Is A joke
Just want to remind you two that you’re arguing intensely over a picture of a chubby pony in a cartoon… that is all. :P
You just ignored the point to bring up a completely unrelated hateful caricature. I should probably have expected this.
Such a desperate straw you grasp.
But good example, Lauren Faust did a cartoon that would show what she thinks of anti brony “feminists”. I couldn’t watch this episode without thinking of Pinkie pony and those who supported her. Skip to 10:25

It should be pretty obvious you aren’t the same kind of feminist or activist as Lauren Faust. The surest way to prove me wrong is to do something good in the REAL world
Lauren Faust seems to disagree, considering that she made the show so that girls could see different ways to be themselves.
Or you could try some actual activism. That would fix the PR alot faster and would be something new for you
The point you’re making is that I’m worthless and the Devil because I think words are worth something and that somehow makes me exactly like everyone you disagree with about anything. Even though you have no problem acting like words are worth something. Sure, your own admitted examples of words changing things are changes you hate with a passion, but that still contradicts the other reason you hate speech with a passion, namely that it has literally no effect.
In truth, the way people talk and think about each other does have an effect, and like any other aspect of reality, those effects can and have been made better by people talking and thinking about them. People’s thoughts and feelings are a product of all the things around them; works of art, like any other form of expression, can inspire people to think in certain ways. If everything a person sees depicts group X using stereotype Y, then that cultural consciousness will reflect on their own mind; if a large portion of those depictions are negative, then they might start hating that group, or feel ashamed of being in that group when there’s nothing actually wrong with them. But because people are aware of this fact, they can find better ways to represent people, and those people can learn and feel that they can be more than just a hated stereotype or an object of ridicule.
Nope I do. I believe with increasing conviction that every single psuedo activist who has complained about MLP or bronies has never been able to do anything good with their activism.
Seriously you should dwell on the point I’m making a bit more. If you think you and you’re compatriots are doing good, but can’t find one tiny example of the good you’ve achieved, it’s time to question what your doing. You might as well put on a superman costume and call yourself a hero.
Until you can list one single example I will be forever convinced of the useless of your slacktivism.
I completely doubt that you honestly believe your stance that nothing anywhere ever has ever been, or could ever be, accomplished by people talking about problems. I’ll admit it’s not much use towards people who are hate-filled enough to equate it to an act of war, but if words couldn’t change people’s minds on things or inform them of things they haven’t thought of, people wouldn’t be speaking them.
And yet with such a broad category I would expect you to find at least one solitary thing they have been able to achieve.
Hint: If an action is performed by hundreds of people and fails to produce a single positive result you would be better off spending that time playing facebook games. Don’t insult activists by calling yourself one until you actually do something.
You, again, are trying to lump everyone you consider an enemy into one indistinct mass, acting as if anyone who supports the idea of talking about things is guilty of every opinion you hate, regardless of their relevance. The category of people you’re attacking is both dishonestly broad, because you’re bringing up issues which have nothing to do with anything your targets have said beyond the fact that you’re offended by them, and dishonestly narrow, because the actual behavior you’re attacking is so broadly defined as to include just about anything, including everything you say against it.
If you want to continue arguing how inherently worthless and evil it is to complain about things with words, then it should be kept in mind that you’re complaining about things with words.
List to me all the accomplishments you have achieved.
Factoring in the post below and the shit that allowed Pinkiepony to rise to prominence, it better bet a good, long list
they
Never underestimate the destructive effects of the “activists”. They don’t solve any problems, but they can quite efficiently create a bunch.
It’s easy for anyone to think of as many evil arguments as they need whenever they want to feel offended by their chosen enemies, but the point that’s up for debate is “complaining” as a general concept, or more specifically whether complaining about how people treat each other has a chance of improving things, or is an inherently evil act committed by evil self-centered monsters for no good reason just for the attention.
@Tumblr Feminism Is A joke
Complaining about harmful depictions of certain groups (among other, similar issues) does, in fact, have the potential to accomplish things. For one, it informs people about the presence of those groups, the issues they might have, and how they might be affected by the words and actions of others. It might also discourage people from mistreating them in the same or similar ways, but that’s sadly being undermined by the people being conditioned to hate it on sight and taught that it’s unequivocally evil. That is the real reason behind the alleged worthlessness of words, not any inherent problem with the idea of considering people’s feelings.
I garuntee you the big mac dress complaints will get nothing positive done and I have yet to see what any “activist” who has complained about MLP or bronies has manged to get done. Seriously, give me examples and be as specific as possible, because it seems like if they had never become activists activism would lose nothing.
So either their fools with shit priorities, or their doing it for their ego.
If you wanted to get shit done, would MLP really be the thing you focus on? Especially when the other people who focused on MLP went on to achieve nothing?
“Complaints get things done if people listen.”
“Misgendering is rape.”
Tell me, what “things” gets the above done?
Does it solve the desperate plight, suffering and repression of people of “alternative genders”, who suffer the torture of being called with incorrect pronouns?
Or maybe it trivializes rape, making it harder for genuine rape victims to receive help, drowned by a million such forms of “rape” made up by the “activists”?
Valid issues are either listened to and addressed, or shouted down as “pointless crying” by people offended by the idea of considering them.
Invalid issues are either listened to and logically justified, or shouted down as “pointless crying” by people offended by the idea of considering them.
Either way, the shouters make discussion worse, as they focus more on ridiculing things than improving them.
VALID issues are listened to and addressed.
pointless crying at everything as [PROBLEMATIC] does not constitute as activism.
Complaints get things done if people listen. If people start fuming at the thought of people discussing whether __ are being represented badly or not, then they’re still the ones inventing ridiculous evil hidden motives to dismiss what could well be valid viewpoints.
I respect the kind of activism that gets shit this done.
The kind where people think their doing something good complaining about stuff like big mac wearing a dress and believing this qualifies as activism.
The good kind of activism is about getting shit done, the bad kind of activism is about being an attention whore and trying to feel important while doing nothing of worth.
That would be any kind of activism (or communication) if spoken to someone who starts seeing red at the thought of people not thinking they’re worthless. Those people barely listen to themselves (hence the oft-repeated “I’m not attacking, I’m disagreeing, you evil subhuman piece of trash”), so why would they listen to anyone else?
