That is, people thought Rarity was just going to be the whiny rich girl, full of herself, thinking she’s better than others, rather than being the embodiment of generosity. The thing is, Lauren made it so that velvet has good reason for thinking she’s better than others, that is that she IS better than almost everybody else, there has never been somebody who can knock her down a peg. She is a great fighter, she is the best at winter magic, she has the largest elven fellowship, etc.
 
I guess this is like how people could claim that a large race full of Alicorns would be better than regular earth ponies, unicorns and pegasus, and then it turns out that they ARE better than the other three races. I guess that’s similar to the Lohnma’s case, they are magical, super tough like dragons, can fly, etc., they have good reasons to believe they are better than other races for the simple fact that they ARE better

I really hope these two become friends. Even though we don’t know much about them, I feel like these two in particular would have a great dynamic together.

I think it’s a good idea for one terms for losing a duel is that you need to do a favor for the victor. Which may include stuff like this.
