One that was done well and the other that was shoehorned and done poorly just for attention. EQG blows that half assed mess out of the water.
yeah it was a very specific thing the artist did apparently. They went out of their way to try to imply they were in a lesbian relationship.
that reference to the mountains made me crackle like an idiot. Then I read you were being serious.
@OP
Nope. Not at all. Can’t read subtext.
The characters in Steven Universe are technically non-gender, but they still look and are treated as females. Two female characters have a quick kiss, are said to be a relationship, and later appear and make out (they couldn’t kiss on the lips from what I understand so they instead kiss each others necks and such).
And, another was very much in love with another woman and they don’t pretend otherwise.
ah, also it was network (nickelodeon) but i have heard most of the bisexual censorship issues was from china’s enforcement of it… I wonder if they could of actually pushed for a kiss or something on nick? Makes me wonder though I want to see a cartoon series break that mold somehow. I know Steven Universe apparently has some homosexual characters (implied) and do it tastefully. So i hear anyway.
Although Nickelodeon was all for it, Standards and Practices required them to be subtle about it. Different countries and all that jazz.
There’s a point where Korra and Asami are looking at a landscape, and the two mountains along with the sky are the colors of the bisexuality pride flag.
Also, the lack of kiss had to do with the network, not the creators who would have done it.
@Marusame
Well that answers my question then.
No kiss, because this also had to air in china and they have strict rules regarding this stuff (even more so than over here) But they literally did everything in the book to imply they fell for each other romantically. I hear even the background mountain or something is a reference to lesbians in a way. Also the writers came out after it aired and said with no shadow of a doubt that canon wise to them they were romantically involved.
They didn’t kiss, they just held hands and gazed into each other’s eyes as the camera panned up.
They buried the hatchet in the season 3 premiere. While Asami taught Korra how to drive, they decided their histories with Mako weren’t worth dwelling on. One of the best scenes in the show if you ask me.
Admittedly I didn’t really watch much of it after season 2, I think.
