The biggest problem with the hiatus is that much of the fanbase loses touch with reality and their dreams and desires grow and mutate into unrealistic expectations.

To me, the problem with seasonal hyatus is that the community is more static.

Also, Google Chrome is the best browser but it has some problems with animated gifs since a while. The rendering engine stops rendering the animated gif when it’s outside the viewport (i.e., the page is scrolled).
Apparently, there’s a bug around that doesn’t restart the animation when the gif is in view again.

The real problem seems to be the http time-to-live at the derpibooru is set a bit too low. When an image only partly loads before the server gives up, problems just happen.

Then apparently, Chrome requires more than 2 GB RAM to work properly. But then again, Firefox does not seem to have any problems with GIFs.
