There is a lot of drama surrounding this episode.

At the risk of sounding crazy because I have independent thought, here’s my two cents for those that are interested:

I don’t think Big Mac putting on a dress, makeup, and falsetto was the best way to go about supporting Apple Bloom, but I find the more important thing is that he was just wanting to make his little sister happy.

Those who think this was bashing the trans/metrosexual/insert-identity-crisis-here/etc. are simply missing the whole point and message that this episode brings.

Big Mac loves his little sisters; he feels overshadowed by one and therefore irrelevant to the other. As the older brother in my family, I know exactly how this feels. He just wanted to show his little sister that he loves her and wants her to be happy.

So yes, dressing in drag was rather crazy for him, but is it really that crazy to want your siblings to be happy?
To want to feel like his little sister’s hero?

The long and short of it all is that Big Mac loves his family, and this episode shows just how far he will go for them.
If nothing else, we see just how good-hearted Big Mac truly is.
This is why I like him as a character.
