They took the title “ black metal” and applied it to the genre.
Then again they did the same for first way with Bathory and arguably Hellhammer.
I think I remember something about Mayhem saying they inspired them self on Venom and the new genre name on Venom’s album, with also implies venom is not technically black metal… (Edit) at lest prior to Mayhem (including the “Black Metal” Album)

Early Black Metal (First wave apparently) was a lot more on speed.
Considering Quorthan of Bathory was inspired by hardcore punk, this fits.

Gaahl is generic at best (he did some good songs on the band, but Gorgoroth has gone downhill since they’ve began to repeat/recycle the same stupid “HAIL SATAN!” bullshit because Infernus is such a damn wanker, he can’t just allow the band to evolve).
I’d rather have someone combine MLP with Celtic Frost, they gave us Cold Lake and “Prototype” yeah, but they gave To Mega Theorin and of course, Monotheist.
Gaahl (misspelled on your part if the one from Gorgoroth) is an egotistical cunt with unimpressive vocal skills. Ever since he joined, the band started going downhill.

You should consider taking Abbath away. He’s not interested in black metal’s anti-religion gimmick, actually. Hence why Immortal only sings about wars and an imaginary world the whole band made up (been a long time since I listen to Norwegian black metal, what’s the name of that world once again?).
Just get Fenriz, Varg, Atilla, Ghaal, Frost, and Abbath.
