Well to go along with what Beauty said in regards to the logo, it could also be the fact that the franchise is more gender neutral.
They’ve done meme-tastic cartoony expressions before they even started intentionally “derping” Derpy’s eyes. The logo was changed to match the toy/merchandise logo actually, so I’d say it’s still mostly for little girls too.
Girls enjoy the humor, and can get some jokes. I think one kid even quoted a meme at a convention, and according to former comic writer Katie Cook, she saw kids with Derpy, and “Dr. Hoof” shirts on. So it’s not necessarily just pandering to the older fans. Kids can understand things better then you think.
The show still has it’s simple moments, and such regardless, I feel honestly.

good golly gosh its been forever since ive looked at all of that, thanks for the correction
i just think that the earlier seasons harness the sort of “carefree girls’ cartoon” vibe better than the ones that came after..
the pupils got smaller and expressions were made more to be exaggerated and meme-y, and slowly things started to pander more to the “cool” fans- i mean at some point they even changed the logo colors, right? they even had a whole episode to pander to the fanbase and it seems more and more they choose storylines and character types that little kiddos might miss the cleverness on, or something like that.. i’m bad with my words when it comes to this, but something just doesn’t feel right about the new things
i don’t know, i think i just really prefer when it was a simple show about colorful little ponies and a hint of magical elements.. nowadays it’s super huge and everything has an intricate plotline- i haven’t followed since s7 ended but ive heard that theres a friendship school now?
idk, things after s2/s3 just don’t sit right with me.. but i can understand enjoying the latter parts for what they are, absolutely. they have their own charm.. it’s just not one that really strikes me as “my little pony”, you know? ;;

The ironic thing about your comment is, Season 1 was never intended to be the only season.
They were working on Season 2 during the Season 1 era. In fact, on average it takes a whole year, just to make one entire half-hour episode, so they were probably making some scripts for Season 2, before Season 1 even started airing.
No offense, but I don’t understand those whom think Season 1 is the only good season. (It reminds me of Sonic fans, who think Sonic 1 is the best Sonic game.) It was enjoyable yes, and made bronies of many people, but it wasn’t perfect.
It had tons of animation flaws, a bit of exaggeration of characters at times for forced humor, (like Fluttershy’s cowardness in “Dragonshy,” or Applejack’s stubbornness) and Twilight basically being forced in a role for every episode (even ones where she hardly did anything) just so she can write the moral “letter of the day” lesson. (This is why “Lesson Zero” was made, to fix that, so any character could do that.)
Not to mention Luna’s existence was ignored, (why wasn’t she at the Grand Galloping Gala?) and fans were confused by “Feeling Pinkie-keen’s” controversial moral, among other minor things.
I even remember a reviewer guy stated he hated “Cutie-mark Chronicles,” (the episode showing the backstory for each characters’ cutie-mark) and stated he refuses to accept it as canon.
Don’t get me wrong, I loved season 1, but I’m just saying it wasn’t perfect either. Honestly, I prefer the seasons afterwards, especially 2 & 4.
In fact, I didn’t really start getting into the series until the third episode. The 2-parter pilot was good, but it didn’t exactly hook me on the series yet.

I smell butthurt about someone smelling butthurt from a BG pony.
i smell inability to cope with different opinions 👀
lets not start discourse aye?
I smell butthurt.
s1-s2 was the heart and soul of the show and even s2 was showing signs of decline
it was meant to stop at s1 but ofc the big ass revolutionary following made it so they HAD to make more to turn a profit
@genervt
Ironically, people used to hate her for being “OP.” (Overpowered.)
Every character has a few haters out there, it’s nothing new.
She is not weak and nobody hates her.
Stupid Hasbro, look at what you did. Now, the writers and the fandom hate Twilight. IDIOTS!
Darn level 99 cap…
level 100, but that’s only if you pay. She will never evolve if you don’t pay.
There was. . . Purple smart.
Twilight Snarkle.
I insist.
She legally changed her name to “Headmistress and Princess of Friendship Twilight Spakle”. She mis-spelled the last name and is now stuck with it.
