Dude. Quantum mechanics is the source of the transistor, the laser, the atomic clock, photoelectric eyes, MRI scans, etc. All are based on our understanding of quantum mechanical effects, and that’s not a comprehensive list of everyday tech using QM by any means. The processors in the computer you’ve been commenting on wouldn’t work right if engineers weren’t taking into account quantum mechanical effects these days.
 
Quantum field theory, an outgrowth of QMech, has given predictions of particle properties that have been shown by experiment to be accurate to one part in a trillion (see “anomalous magnetic moment of the electron”). That’s approximately like predicting the volume of water in Flathead Lake to within a few gallons and being correct. Experimentally, it’s literally the best tested and most accurate theory of nature in human history. There’s nothing ambiguous about the math or science of quantum mechanics.
 
Now, if your talking about the philosophy of quantum mechanics, that’s a different story. And I genuinely hope you aren’t getting your whole picture of QM from bubble-headed quackmasters like Deepak Chopra. If so, it’s time to go pick up some better reading material on the subject. I wish I had some good recommendations off the top of my head for folks (I’ll have to remedy that). Make sure that the author actually has a PhD in physics before you read it, though. Deepak Chopra… shudders

Quantum physics is currently used in neuroimaging technology, so it does have it’s practical uses.

That’s not how it works. Changing a state of the atom, or - rather - deciding what state is it is just a probability, but scientists found a way to put an atom in “one state” and second atom in “two state” and “teleport” information, by changing one atom’s state and reporting the second atom changing too - that’s called entanglement. But if we wanted to go to the pony universe… that would take much, much more effort and I have no idea if it’s even possible anyhow.

Then again, Hollywood Science gives us things like earthquakes strong enough to split the planet in half, yet leave things like cabinets standing upright.

I think the implication here is that Quantum Physics is theoretical, and “published science books” should be hard, empirical evidence.
