Description

continuing the Cloud Spirit story! ^^
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cloud Spirit darted through town. She felt somewhat bad for leaving her mom like that, but she made her so upset she just couldn’t spend another minute with her.
Why won’t she understand? Cloud Spirit asked herself, as she slowed down. She peered through windows of stores and markets. It’s not like not being a Wonderbolt is the worst thing. Lots of Pegasi don’t become Wonderbolts; in fact, two out of fifty do, she thought. If I want to become a zoologist, why can’t I? Mom’s the one who won’t get over the fact that not everyone’s as sporty and competitive at her.
She looked up at a store featuring a few of their drink options. They had many flavors and types, all of which look unbearable delicious. She was a bit thirsty from running, so she walked in.
The store wasn’t completely packed. It wasn’t’ a very busy day. She sat at the counter, remembering her night at the bar. “Hello!” A purple-ish pink pony greeted her. “What can I get’cha today?” they asked. Cloud Spirit looked up at the menu. All of the drinks looked so good, she didn’t know what to choose.
“I’ll just take a water,” Cloud Spirit sighed, unable to choose. “Ah, come on. Water’s boring. There’s got to be something that appeals to you.” They reminded her of Sona Shy. But more calm and laid back.
“Ha, your right. I’m use to just water. My mom says other drinks will make my wing feather fall off. Maybe… hm. Lemme try the strawberry sunset with whipped cream. Hold the ice.” She added.
The pony chuckled. “Coming right up,” they said sweetly.
Cloud watched them as they grabbed the cup with their wing, then poured juice, sugar, and strawberry power in it. They shook it twice, then placed it underneath a dispenser. A good layer of whipped cream poured out on the drink, like frosting on a cupcake. They cut a strawberry in half and gracefully place one side on top, completing the mesmerizing drink.
“All done! Here ya go!” They said, then slid it over, right in front of her. She licked a small bit of whipped cream, then took a sip.
“How is it?” They asked. “I’ve never thought juice and whipped cream would be so good!” She said. “How much will it be?”
“It’s on the house,” they said, with a smile. “Wait really?” Cloud Spirit asked. “Yeah, it’s a Sunday. No one comes on Sunday, heh.”
“Wow, thank you… um.”
“ZipZap. But you can call me Zip,” They said. “What a cool name! I’ve never heard that before! I’m Cloud Spirit.” She said, shaking their hoof. “I’ll say the same for yours! My dads said I could name myself! I couldn’t choose between Zip or Zap, so I just choose both. But I like Zip better.” They laughed.
“That’s cool! My mom named me after her “love of flying” because of course she did.” Cloud Spirit rolled her eyes.
”Flying’s fun. What, you’re not into it?” They asked. “Not really. But my mom doesn’t seem to realize it. I love animals, and learning about them. There’s so many undiscovered creatures out there! Whole civilizations we’ve never heard of! It’s fascinating, really. But my mom wants me to be an amazing awesome so cool flyer like her.” Cloud Spirit explained.
“Huh. I got family troubles, too. One of my dads was never really there for me when I was younger. It’s like the other was trying so hard to make me succeed and the other didn’t even care. They’re both here for me now, but they say I never really got the childhood I should have gotten.”
“I’m sorry to hear that. I guess I’m being selfish. I have so many opportunities to be successful. Maybe I should just do what I have instead.” Cloud said.
“I don’t think you’re being selfish. Everyone has a goal in life, and with hard work, you’ll get there. But I think you mom just loves you, and wants the best for you.” Zip said, putting a hoof on her shoulder.
“I know, I know. But that isn’t what’s best for me! She just doesn’t get it.”
“You should talk to her. Tell her how you feel. That’s what I did to my dads, and everything isn’t perfect, but it’s better.” Zip suggested.
“I tried. Like, literally just now,” Cloud Spirit told them. “And what happened?” They asked her.
“I couldn’t stand listening to her drone on about how she knows what’s best. So I ran off. And went to Starbreys. And met you.”
Zip smiled. “Sounds like it went, well. But not everything is fixed yet. Give it time, Cloud Spirit. It’ll get better.” They said kindly. Cloud smiled.
She looked around the empty store, then looked back at them. “You don’t have a partner to work with?” She asked. “No. It’s just me. It’s not boring or anything, but it’s lonely sometimes.” They said, whipping the counter as if they had three hundred times this day. A little click in Cloud Spirit’s head flickered.
“Well, if there’s a space open, I’d be happy to work with you!” She exclaimed.
“Really? Do you know how to do everything? Make a drink, the correct way to serve it?” They asked. “You can teach me! It’ll be fun. Plus, I get to do something else than Wonderbolts training and I’ll earn some bits. Please?” She asked them.
Zip grinned. “I’ll talk the manager! I’m sure he’d let you work here!”
“Thank you!” She said, with a bright smile.
Cloud Spirit finished her drink then said goodbye to Zip. She had a feeling this job would take her mind off of stressful Wonderbolts training. Maybe her mom would forget about it after she worked for a few months. Then everything would be fine. Perfect.
