^ Sigh Literally all we know is that Spike is younger than Twilight, and about a handful of years no less. The gap between Twilight and Shining and or Cadence is larger.

But Twilight is an alicorn and Rarity is unicorn; both creatures live a very long time too. So unless Spike is proven to age slower no one can say. Also you need to take to account Cadance and the other alicorn princesses; did they age slower growing up? Cadance raised Twilight as she herself was growing up as an alicorn: does that mean the passage of time from that past to present was greater? If not why would it be different for Spike/Smolder/Ember? Wasn’t Luna not fully grown herself in season one before that got recon?
 
Just too many questions to answer if fans go down that road.
