The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

@Huacaya
Being critical of something is useless if you can’t take the time to explain why you’re critical of something, and suggest how it might be made better.

I always feel like I come of as a bit of an asshole when I type something critical, so I do my best to offset it with advice.

Ponies in the show, even background ponies, use a pastel colour scheme for a reason. It’s nicer on the eye, especially when you compare it to the colours you see most MS Paint OCs have: colours high in saturation.

This green for this OC is, I think, too strong. But only for the coat. On their own, the eye colour is absolutely fine, but here you have both shades of green being used for the eyes and coat. It doesn’t compliment so well.

In comparison, look at Applebloom. Even here, the artist has succeeded in keeping her colours soft and pastel like the show depiction.

There’s a hue wheel. Take a look at Applebloom from the show, and you’ll see that literally every colour on her can be marked on that wheel from about one o’clock to three o’clock. Ignoring highlights in eyes and mane, none of her colours fall in the same hue area as each other, yet they all lie right next to each other.

For the OC, the two main colours, dark green and browny-red, fall at about one o’clock and four o’clock, a bit closer to the center. Additionally, unless you have analogous complements (colour scheme all close together, like I explained with AB’s), it’s rare to see a show pony who’s coat is a solid red, blue or green.

Not to say it can’t or shouldn’t be done. If you can find a way to make it work, then go for it. But personally, I think the colour of this OC could use some tweaking. It might actually be possible to make it look good while still keeping some variation of green and brown-red in there. Definitely could do to be a bit more pastel, though.
