I did like how Discord wasn´t screwing around or turning it into a game. The moment he hears Fluttershy is in trouble his first instinct is going directly for her.

You missed one important detail: discord tried to teleport directly to fluttershy, but ended up outside the changeling hive and he was confused for this.  
Now, connect the dots.

You’re welcome. And we’ve seen Discord jealous, panicked, bored, jovial, celebratory, and other emotions. But never outright angry.
 
And an angry Spirit of Chaos is a very bad thing. Starlight, Spike, Thorax, and Trixie are the only people holding him back from doing any permanent damage to Equestria.

Thorax: He never raised his voice to the Queen of Changelings, nor did he humiliate her. He was feeling kind. In order to sate her love, he created the horde of fluffy ponies that had infinite love, but she could not handle that much. She wanted ultimate power. Discord had given it to her.
