Hasn’t there been a delay in her dis- and reappearance before? In fact, I think that it’s mostly done with a delay.

This brings up the question of where Twilight is between disappearing and reappearing. We usually assume it’s instant even if we’re shown both, but she manages to poof, make Spike poof before coming back, then un-poof on the platform at the same time as him. How?

What do you think’s gonna happen to Dash since she let Twilight and Spike escape? I doubt Nightmare Moon takes failure well.

If memory serves, Lauren Faust wrote that Nightmare Moon would’ve turned Equestria into a Land of Evil. Which seems to be the path they chose to go.

Not in the current timeline, yes, but if Flim and Flam can take over the world and Nightmare can make night plants, I don’t see why she wouldn’t be able to in some terrible future.

This is why Word Of God is pretty meaningless. If it’s not in the show, it’s not confirmed and it’s not canon.
 
It really would make no sense for NMM to just sit by while everything around her withered and died.

anyone else notice how desolate the map looks? especially when twilight stands in roughly the center of it to teleport there should be alot more there. Maybe NMM can only maintain a small portion of it without the sun?

Really, I remember waaaay back in Season 1, one of the shows writers confirmed that if NMM got her way on eternal night, everything would pretty much die (plants need sunlight to live, which would quickly go up the food chain). So it’s kinda surprising a year or two after NMM’s takeover, her timeline is not a barren wasteland.
 
I guess she is pretty much a physical god, so it’s probably not out of the question for her to keep engineering plants that survive night, as there’s really no point in ruling over nothing. Still, it would’ve made an interesting contrast between NMM and the other big-bads if the “Nightmare takeover timeline” was pretty much a desolate waste when Twilight and Spike visited it, and it was just the two of them being endlessly hunted by NMM.

Once again Nightmare Moon gets another Big No.

This scene was pretty fast paced in the good type of way.  
Also Twilight outsmarted Nightmare Moon the exact same way as she did the first time around.

Honestly.  
I would really have preferred it if NNM’s timeline was the last one, the barren wasteland, and she was basically Vandal Savage.  
Driven by her insanity and guilt into chasing twilight to get the time spell to fix her own mistake stupidly ignoring anything twilight said to her in her focus to get it.  
But what can you do? Was still a great finale.
