A question that’s been bugging me for a long while since Starlight and Shimmer are both given pants and are less tomboyish than Dash and AJ, yet Hasbro still decides to still stereotype all the mane 6 as wearing skirts. Great job, Hasbro! claps hands slowly

And what’s wrong with them wearing skirts? And considering the…reaction some bronies had with them wearing shorts and pants at the camp, I’d say they made the right choice with skirts; they’re cute anyway.

Honestly, the HuMane 5 really need an update to their looks, to bring them more in line with Sunset, SciTwi, Starlight and Juniper.
 
Having said that, I actually like human AJ wearing skirts and liking Rarity’s dresses at the end of the day.

Easy. All remane5, Princess Twilight and Sunset was the goal to attract a girly target. After that they need a new clothes design to Sunset saying: “I’m now a new and reformed character”. The ramane5 don’t change so much their attitudes, thus no new designs.

I think the original designs for the mane 6 (and Shimmer for that matter) had a lot to do with the dolls they were marketing with the first special. Skirts are an easier accessory to switch out than pants on a doll that might have multiple outfits. Why didn’t change it like Shimmer’s? I couldn’t tell you.
