“Psycho jealous sister”? Really? That’s what you thought of Twilight as you watched the first part of “A Canterlot Wedding”? I can understand the other characters coming to that conclusion, but the viewers?

Yeah, I’m done here.

Aren’t DidNotDoTheResearch and Contradicted by canon valid tags? Their was only one guy removing those, and not because he could prove them wrong.

I put the other one on to wind him up for trying to using tag censorship to mute his opponents

In regards to the comments, I actually laughed at somebody making a “tags millennial dan likes to remove” tag.

Yes seriously, your logic is that faulty. If you want a real example of Twilight being in the spot light, let’s recall the ursa minor incident when our beloved prin- Oh wait! That couldn’t count could it? Because she wasn’t a princess right?

First of all, ACW could have been a lot better in many ways, but regardless, the dynamic was different back then. Not only was Twilight not a princess, and did not save the day, she didn’t even look that good. She kind of came of as a psycho jealous sister or something.

As for Twilight’s absolutely incorrect choice in the S4 finale, I should think that was obvious. Once she surrendered her ridiculous “alicorn powerz” to Tirek, he could easily have gone back on the deal and squished them all. It was just about the dumbest thing I’ve seen anyone do on this show.

@Darkmoon
Ah yes, the incredibly silly and redundant plot devices nearly qualifying as MacGuffins. Ultra convenient “keys” acquired completely incidentally while the mane six went about doing the same everyday stuff they always do in separate episodes really isn’t the same thing as actively contributing in some way to the Tirek problem.

I don’t know, I think quite a few fans overrates the first two-parter, as well. Not bashing it, Nightmare Moon was cool, and all, but some act like it’s the best episode/s of the series. As I said “Mare in the Moon/Friendship is Magic” was good, but didn’t impress me, and make me a brony when I first saw it. I liked it, but I didn’t start becoming a brony until I watched “Ticket Master,” and the episodes after that.

I will admit the original 2-parter gets better when you rewatch it, after getting more used to the characters.

I will agree, Season 3 was a li’l weaker then other seasons, (especially being shorter, and I felt they didn’t foreshadow Twilight’s “ascension” to princesshood enough) but I still enjoyed it. (Also, seemed criminal Rarity didn’t get an episode. She was said to originally be the main character in “Spike at your Service” though, but was changed to Applejack, in fear it might’ve made Rarity look bad. Especially, considering Spike has a crush on her.)

Yeah, I think they were only “Flanderized” or exaggerated in the first ep’ ‘cause we the viewers don’t know them yet, nor does Twilight, but their personalities start to develop more in the second part, and the episodes onward.

I remember seeing a hilarious fanart piece (can’t find it sorry) showing Twilight being surrounded by the other “mane 6” chanting “Friendship!” while she looks scared, which kinda sums up (and exaggerated) Twilight’s reaction to meeting the others in the first episode. :P

Well, to be fair, each of the other Elements had a chance to demonstrate their Element during the second part of the pilot.

@Beau Skunky
The first season’s my favorite, but by only a slim margin over the second and fourth, so I probably don’t qualify as a “Season 1 purist”. (For the record, I liked season 3 OK, but it was noticeably weaker than the others.) Still, I’ll agree that the “Twilight’s Kingdom” two-parter is better than the “Friendship Is Magic” two-parter. Not by much, IMHO; I think the fandom as a whole underrates the pilot episodes slightly and overrates “Twlight’s Kingdom” slightly. I think you’re being a little hard on the other Elements in the first episode, but your point about them being more “Flanderized” (though that term is odd in this context) in that episode is very perceptive.

I got to honestly say I much prefer “Twilight’s Kingdom” over the original first pilot arc personally. I know Season 1-purists will eat me alive for that, but that’s how I feel.
While a good intro to the series, “Mare in the Moon/Friendship is Magic” when I first saw it, while I enjoyed it, it didn’t exactly hook me into the series at first. (But as I watched more episodes the characters became more likeable, and the show became more cute/funny as it went on.)

Not to mention before befriending Twilight, the characters actually acted quite obnoxious to her in the first part when you think about it. (Even if it was meant to be played for laughs mostly.)
Applejack going off about apples, and her family to Twilight, (not to mention overfeeding her) Rainbow Dash drenching her and acting palsy regardless of not knowing her yet, Pinkie Pie gasping, and running away first time she met her, and Fluttershy barely being able to speak to her, until she noticed Spike) I honestly, think the characters were more “Flanderized” in the first episode then the ones afterwords in some ways, but that was because we, and Twilight didn’t know them very well yet. (And they get “better” in the second part, and episodes onward.)

As for them “not doing anything in “Twilight’s Kingdom,” actually they were trying to help Twilight figure out the mysteries of the box, visited the old castle library with her, and such. (Not to mention Pinkie accidently figured out how the keys work.)
So while Twilight was the main focus, (after the other 5 all had their own “key” episodes, this is basically her “key” episode, so she deserves it) the others did play a role in it, as well.

Reasons like that are why I get sick of soured-fans claiming the show is now the “Twilight Show,” and such… (Did those people even pay attention to Season 4?)
