You completely misinterpret it as some kind of horrible sexist thing (see 90% of your comments on this one, where you assumed that Beau Skunky was “complaining” about being “oppressed,” when he was clearly doing no such thing in the slightest >>434414).
Guy points out the gaping holes in your response.
You respond with another wall of text, making baseless assumptions and sweeping generalizations about what they believe because you can’t be bothered to actually read what they’re actually saying.
Process repeats.
I’ve said this to you countless times before, and I’ll say it again: Someone else being an asshole does NOT give one the right to be an asshole BACK, no matter how much they may or may not deserve it.

I don’t need to assume anything about most of the people who regularly scream at me here, they wear their bigotry and shittiness on their post history’s sleeve. Aside from the handful of normal people who tsk-tsk ast me about presentation rather than content, most of them are openly sexist assholes whose assholery ranges from mere smirking prickishness all the way up to full-blown sociopathic insanity of the sort that really should be on a watchlist. How much of their secret origin stories am I supposed to care about? They show up on a friggin’ Friendship Is Magic image board and talk crap about the very concept of women being treated equally; what’s left to assume? Against that, damn right I’m the righteous and correct one in the shouting match, because I only act like an asshole at them, when they show up and start being assholes first; the difference is that I’m just acting. When everyone involved gets sick of replying, I go off to burble about how adorable the cute pictures are and how cool the alterna-character designs are, and they… go off to be assholes somewhere else.
I never am trying to “change their minds”, they’re a bunch of ignorant, bigoted scumbags who are largely incapable of understanding human decency; I’m making sure they don’t slink away thinking they were right all along because no one ever told them up front what assholes they are. If nobody else in the thread is ever going to say anything to them in the calmer and more polite fashion you’re stumping for, then they’re getting what they deserve too. I’m not going to let assholes who never belonged here in the first place hold the floor unchallenged.
Hmm, no. I mean that it’s a problem that you make any assumptions at all about people. You know, ASSUME makes an ASS out of U and ME? Right? You assume that a person is a certain way (which may or may not be true, but it’s not a given). Given the shaky ground of the first assumption, you then incorrectly assume that there is only one possible conclusion. You then spend a large amount of time writing textwalls in response to people you’re making embarrassingly incorrect assumptions about. There’s a little bit too much pride in your own righteousness and “correctness” of your own opinion. Belligerence will win no one over, nor change anyone’s mind.
Well, sorry to keep pissing you off, I guess, but I disagree with your position here, and always will. When the stance that someone else takes is “women do not deserve the same rights as men” or “men have it worse than women”, I honestly and sincerely do not give two tenths of a damn how they “arrived at [their] given conclusion”, any more than I care why someone puts on a white hood and loads up the Chevy with cross-burnin’ supplies. There are beliefs that just plain make someone a bad person regardless of how or why or whatever.
Not every opinion is valid and worthy of consideration or courtesy. If you want to play Good Cop to these assholes, fine, more power to you; the world needs more nice people. I do not have the kind of patience required to pretend that bad people aren’t.
As I’ve pointed out to you on EQD, you don’t even attempt to ask any questions, and frequently make assumptions. You frequently make zero attempt to understand someone else’s stance.
People think the way they do for a reason. If you don’t even bother to understand how a given person arrived at a given conclusion, of course it won’t make any sense. You also shouldn’t assume people are out to whine or complain or be miserable. I’ll say how I feel something is, for instance. Like, I don’t know, watching Star Wars Episode 1 and saying, “This sucks”. Of course it’s an opinion. It’s an opinion I feel strongly about. If anyone asks, “Well gosh RJ, that’s kinda strong. Why do you think that?” I’d more than happy to share why I think that.
I’m serious when I say this: when you go in assuming you know what the other party is thinking, it really and truly makes you out to be the asshole. It would be like me telling you how you feel about something. Wouldn’t that piss you off? How the fuck would I know any of that without asking you, right? We’re not a hive-mind. We all have different reasons for liking a given thing. Some of us have very different reasons for liking the same thing. I know this, because I’ve asked people why they like My Little Pony, and I’ve gotten as many unique answers as people I’ve spoken to. Make sense, right? Right? Do you get it now?
People have opinions, but you usually go in with guns blazing instead of asking, “hey, how did you come to that conclusion?” You might find people start treating you better.

Also, if you look hard enough, you can find logically sound arguments buried under all the whining.
For “the show is ruined”? No. No you can’t. There’s plenty of room for perfectly valid criticism of various aspects of the show, but “ruined”– as opposed to “ruined for me”, which is a vital difference that most such complaints fail to acknowledge– is not one of them. If someone finds the show no longer watchable for whatever reason, that’s their call, it’s a shame they’re not having fun with it any more, but it categorically does not apply to everyone else as well. I won’t watch Equestria Girls or any of its sequels– even though everyone whose opinion I respect liked it to varying degrees and say it’s a fun movie– because the entire concept of Humans being canonically involved with FIM just ruins it for me. For me. Judging by its success, mine is definitely the minority opinion.

Nah, man, re-read some threads; mostly I lump the people who disagree with me into the “asshole” category, because most of the people who disagree with me– just as a volume percentage, mind you, irrespective of content or subject– are doing so by advancing what are generally known as “asshole opinions”. The same way “paranoia” doesn’t apply if they-whoever “they” happen to be– really are out to get you, trying to make it somehow a fault on my part doesn’t really apply if the ones yelling at me actually are whiners and assholes. It ain’t my fault I’m usually the only one around here willing to stand up and call them out on their whining and assholery, and I am not ever the one to start it. Notice how neither of those things have a gorram thing to do with My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic? It’s almost as if that crap has no business being here and there’d be a lot fewer shouting matches all around if it stayed the hell away.…This completely unnecessary text wall, for example? Oh, are you talking in-story “always planned”? Well, I’d still disagree with you, but if that’s what we’re talking about then I’ll concede that it’s a valid interpretation within current canon. I’d still dispute that the story itself was planned to be this way, though.
(For the record, while I think that Twilicorn was to the show’s detriment, I don’t think it’s ‘ruined’ because of it and in fact enjoyed much of S4)
Because to me it makes sense for it to be that way as I stated, it fits to me and many others with the way the show has progressed, I’m sure Lauren would have had a way for her plans to make sense within the confides of the show as well if she was still there, but she isn’t, and you just have to accept that, how can you continue to enjoy the show if you don’t accept it? you’ll just always be speculating on “what could have been different!” instead of what actually is, and I personally like the way things are now very much as I said.
But whatever, it’s pretty apparent that we look at things differently so I’ll just agree to disagree with you on this, hey, at least you had the decency not to spew vitriolic garbage at me in your comments.
Which both sides of any of these arguments are guilty of doing. I’ve SEEN people who’s arguments for disliking the current direction literally amount to, “It’s not what I think it should be, therefore it sucks.” And like I said: yes, there are people giving legitimate criticisms, but 90% of any “drama”-related tagged images ARE pretty much childish and petty bitching that quickly devolves into both sides insulting each other.
And then you have people like TexasUberAllies, who, while not unintelligent, really DOES lump everybody who disagrees with him into the “whiner” category and then insults people who call him out on it and acts like THEY’RE the ones being unreasonable.
If you’re using “it was always planned” as an argument justifying it, then it is relevant.
What is canon after Lauren left is canon whether you like it or not, therefore it is canon that Celestia was guiding her towards becoming a princess, and it makes sense ultimately for it to progress that way. If you don’t like it then that’s your problem, I’m personally very happy with the way things have progressed.
How about, “At some point, they will justify it.”?
