Description

A Sega Game Gear (Released 1990) shopped to play MLP. Somebody should get an actual one to do this. (As it could play TV)

Blown caps, most likely. A lot of electronics around that same time had bad capacitors. If you still have the units around, it’s easy to get the caps at console5.com, or to just have a pro, such as rapidfiregaming.net, do it for you.

And yes, I know I said rapidfiregaming.com earlier. Mistake.

Haha, never had a TurboExpress. I can imagine that being a super pain in the ass, though, a heavy portable. Kinda defeats the purpose.

I do have a GameGear, though (majesco model, unfortunately, so no Master Gear compatibility), and that thing is heavy just by itself!

Ah, the Game Gear. Nice little system for its time, though shit battery life killed it in the market. Funny enough, NEC also had a TV Tuner for the Turbo Express…

Alas, analog signals are no longer a thing for TV… I imagine radio is soon to follow…

If it doesn’t, go to http://www.rapidfiregaming.com and get that bad boy fixed.

now that everything is digital the antenea no longer works but you can use the jacks to play games or dvds like it is a tv so you could play mlp dvds on your gamegear for sure.

The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

I had two of them. One was in a box I bought from the flea market fer a bit, and the other was a gift from when I was younger. Both units worked until a few months ago, perfect condition as well. Then all of the sudden neither would turn on exhibiting the same screen flicker and buzz. I used to use them quite a bit for tails adventure and that goofy old spider man game it had. Also the sonics. But it was odd how they both decided to not work anymore on the exact same days, exhibit now trouble functioning the week I played them prior as well.

Hey, I remember the good ol’ game gear! Bulky as all hell, required half a pack of batteries to run, and drained them like a beast!

It was all worth it to play games like “Sonic Labyrinth!”

@Background Pony.
RF transmitters are legal and need no FCC licence, if they are under 1 watt of power.

You can’t broadcast analogue signals anyway.
