Growing up in the 80s with a love of fantasy and fable and science, I delighted in the way the MLP toys had unicorns and pegasus ponies alongside regular little horses. That just tickled me for mythical completeness reasons. But yeah, those wings - so tiny! The Warhammer Fantasy ones were better for sensible wingspan (only-child boys do not get to play with girly plastic ponies much!) but then you gotta consider wing musculature and the breaking strength of bone and tendon… oh my. And then the landings. When you consider terminal velocity which limits how hard you land, the old adage goes that mice walk away, cats and dogs snap, humans break badly, and horses splash.
 
I’m glad I’ve been able to put that overliteralness by since I’ve grown up. Magical flying horses can fly because they’re magical goshdarnit (within their world, and with a fair suspension of disbelief). Younger me would have delighted in the pony comics and other ephemera I enjoy today 😃

Those little wings are soooooo cute even though they would never work irl.
