He’s on the other side?
Until at last, her method for winning was to simply have no one run against her. Which made sense, because no one really liked her any more at that point.
The way I see that pic, with her innocent expression, is that during her first year at school, she actually won that first time, fair and square. However, after that first taste of success, she was hooked, and just could not let it go… which led to her, bit by bit, fixing future formals so that she would win them too, each and every time…
“I know… I’m saving it…”
could’ve done but I’ve pictured one of Celestia’s former students she’s had over the last 1000 years suddenly going into the human world at the time of when Washington crossed the Delaware
I’d say that makes a fair bit of sense.
You bring up a good point. However, its not like ‘being a jerk’ is something that defined her absolutely until she was ‘fixed’, once she was physically free from her mentor’s expectations, its natural that she would feel some emotional relief from the lack of anxiety. Family problems, basically.
Remember, she still considered herself a good person, just justified in whatever she did due to her ambition. That’s why she refused to harm Spike, it upset her moral boundries. A 15-16 year old no longer under Celestia’s expectations is not going to be the world’s greatest monster. Hence, the first picture.
Of course, Sunset wasn’t truly free of Celestia’s expectations until the events leading up to Rainbow Rocks. She wasn’t free of it when she’s spending her life defying Celestia, that’s being ruled by expectations in a different way. And as she got closer to being an adult, that manifested worse and worse until she was worse then when she is in Equestria. That seems to fit.
@Millennial Dan
Yeah, that pic still cries out for an explanation. She was a jerk in Equestria, she was a jerk by the time of the first movie, but for a brief window there she was actually pretty okay. Was she just that happy to be out from under Celestia’s hoof?
Ideally, I would like to see that concept combined with the implications of this picture:
Starswirl might’ve been there before them.
Her first encounter with Celestia and Luna would also have a lot of potential.
One’s the immortal god-empress she ran away from, reduced to a school administrator, and the other’s an equally diminished counterpart to a legendary menace.
If they do make a Sunset’s first week, I hope it at least resembles your description.
Unlike Twilight who had Spike and the Mane 5 that were at least anchors for her, the only characters Sunset would know would be Cele and Luna, and its unlikely they’d have gone out of their way to help Sunset adapt.
Speaking this idea to someone else, and given Flash’s personality, it is very likely Flash helped her in this initial period, which is how they got into the relationship.
I don’t know…she only heard about humans briefly based on the alicornification method she read in the forbidden book. The whole ‘what happens to an element of harmony and someone going through an alternate dimension’ deal.
I sincerely doubt she found a book about human etiquette in Equestria. However, it goes without saying Sunset probably picked up on things faster then Twi. And even a brief description of humans in the text would of helped.
According to the comic, researching about the mirror was verboten for her.
That’s actually why she rebelled.
