I always welcome new villains with open arms. Villains are usually the best characters in most franchises.

What is up with the Phantom 2 thing I keep seeing in relation to this guy? What is that a reference to, or is it even a reference?

I’m sure he’ll be a fine character. I mean c’mon, how often has this show disappointed us?

I declare his name now. I dub thee Phantom II.

If his eyes were red without the bright green, he’d look better. And am i the only person thinking that this isn’t the next villain but something drawn up to throw us off?

because he isn’t what most people were expecting. I could really care less of the villain in S3, as long as its good.

All we really know about this character is that this is what he looks like. We don’t know his name, we don’t know his role, we don’t know if he’s some kind of pony or even something that just looks like a pony, we don’t even know if he’ll show up in person: this could very well be the vector of a portrait hanging in a museum or something (It happens) or just random concept art (alright, that’s stretching it, but you see what I mean).
 
That being said, I think we should all spend less time dreading his arrival (well, if he’s a villain we should be dreading his arrival, but not like that).

Exactly! I imagine him being quite the hotblooded, over the top, extremist in appearance that commands a huge group of people and he makes himself look ruthless and dangerous, but really he is pathetic and weak and needs the others to succeed

If he really is a villain, a part of me wants him to be utterly weak and frail. He isn’t dangerous in least… one-on-one. The most dangerous people are those with a mastery of words. I can see him being a charismatic extremist.

Well we still don’t know what exactly this is.

Well, Nightmare Moon looked like a retarded anime character with those uncanny valley eyes. No one really complained about her, now, did they?
 
…That’s not fair. There was barely even a fandom at that point, just a few confused college students thinking to themselves “What is this and why do I like it?”
 
But it’s too early to judge. I doubt this guy will be the main villain though, we didn’t know about Chrysalis until the day the episode aired. No one even knew if there’d be villains at all, everyone sort of figured that the “clones” were Twilight’s doing. Hell, most people agree that if there’s one thing the finale did well, it was the bad guys. Have some faith, this show has good villains. I’m sure he’ll turn out to be a loveable complete monster like Chrysalis did.
