I think you can usually tell if he actually likes a game, but he still snarks about the games he enjoys.

I don’t think he’s all pessimism. He loves his video games, to the point of being fanboyish in some cases (e.g. Valve). He’s mostly snarky and cynical for entertainment’s sake, though he’s also admitted to having social anxiety, if that means anything.
Not surprised at all. Still, he could use a little sunshine in his snarky, pessimistic life…
Which is better than the alternative, I suppose.
