Really? Shame, they should’ve had at least one act for Death Egg Zone. (And have the second be the final boss battles.)
But oh well, we got more Death Egg in the sequels. (And it cameo’d in “Sonic Generations” to.)
From what I hear, the Death Egg & Super Sonic form that debuted in Sonic 2 were both put in as intentional pop-culture references. One being an homage to American pop-culture, (Star Wars) and the other to Japanese pop-culture. (DBZ.)
@Jarkes
Some fans speculate “Genocide City Zone” became the “Metropolis Zone.” Seeing as concept art for it looked a li’l similar in some ways.
Sonic 3 was so rushed they had to split it into two games, (Sonic 3 and S&K) due to both time-restraints, and Sega cartridge space limits supposedly. So Sega’s always had a bad habit of rushing games to market.
No, it did in fact get rushed towards the end of its development in order to be out by Christmas. But since games DIDN’T take as long to get developed back then, it didn’t really hurt the game aside from it losing a bunch of levels, some of which didn’t even get past the concept stage, such as the unfortunately-named “Genocide City Zone.” Actually, funny story about that one: the developers didn’t actually know what “genocide” meant at first; they just thought it sounded cool. Once they realized what it actually meant, they changed the name to “Cyber City Zone” (though it still didn’t make it past the concept stage).
@Jarkes
Sonic 2 is admittedly my favorite game, but I wouldn’t say it was that rushed, (aside from removing some levels shown in old game magazines, and such like the desert level, and “Hidden Palace Zone,” which were then put in “Sonic 3 & Knuckles”) as it was at least in development for a year. Back then not all games took as long to make as they do now.
Though, I do hear Super Mario Bros. 3 took nearly 3 years to make. (Including the planning, and such.)
Ironic that Sonic the Hedgehog 2 was rushed and still ended up being an amazing game (it’s not my personal favorite, but then again I’m honestly not all that fond of the Genesis era. Yes, really. …Mainly because I suck at those games), and Sonic ’06 ended up being a trainwreck.
@YukoAsho
Yeah, pretty much. Also, there’s not many great “rushed” games out there…
I mean I like some of the modern Sonic games admittedly, (call it a “guilty pleasure”) but even I can admit alot of them feel unfinished, or “rushed.”
Sonic2006 being the worst case… (Heck, the manual listed features NOT even in the final game, it was so rushed/unfinished.)
@Jarkes
Usually those are a sign of a lack of clear direction in the project. Best example is Duke Nukem Forever, which was a disjointed mess, trying to keep up with the times as the times changed around the development team(s).
@Jarkes
Spoilers, it is heavily implied that Solid Snake just dies of old age. MGS5 is actually a prequel, featuring Punished (Naked) Snake, his predecessor.
I heard that Solid Snake comes VERY close to actually dying towards the end of Metal Gear Solid 4, and the scene plays out in such a way that people were thinking, “holy s*** he’s actually going to die.” But it ended up being a fakeout or something…

Well, we know that Death Egg Zone was originally going to be two full acts, and that one of them became Metropolis Zone Act 3…

D’oh, I meant “Sonic 2 is my fav’ Sonic game.” Not my favorite “all time” game.

That’s an insult to train wrecks.

Of course, sometimes games that get delayed a lot can still end up turning out pretty bad or mediocre at best.
“Polacks”? I believe you’ll find the proper term is “Poles.”
And the Witcher games are fine, as far as PC games go.
One word: Bloodborne.
@HeroInferno
As a 3DS owner, who doesn’t have a WiiU, I’m hoping to get it before the internet spoils who all the hidden characters are, and such.
It damn well better, they’ve been talking it up since before system launch…
And the real ending was still something of a tearjerker…
*This is good…isn’t it?*

I’m not too interested in Smash Bros U (despite it looking extremely amazing). I do want to play Hyrule Warriors.

As is Hyrule Warriors and Smash Bros U (I think). Nintendo’s on a good streak from delays since Pikmin 3.
Konami forces him, in revenge he tries to make the game suck, it failed everytime.
