At least now we can enjoy all the heartwarming/silly/cute Derpy+Crackle Pop artwork, safe in the knowledge it’s arguably canon.
I doubt they retconed Dinky being related to Derpy, especially considering who else was in the episode aside from them.
Then let’s stretch the meaning of retcon!
Was never canon to begin with. A bunch of different episodes have shown her interacting with Golden Harvest and an unnamed male unicorn. (Most of them at the train station, but at least one was the 3 of them interacting adorably in a crowd). Also saw Golden Harvest and her together in Luna Eclipsed (minus daddy unicorn).
Yeah, at first I thought the pony with Derpy was Dinky. Then I saw he had a colt shaped snout and wings.
